played this a while ago and gave it a 2/5 for wretched performance problems... the update is amazingly better, though the game is still awfully easy. i suppose that if the enemy had better AI, some of the levels would be impossible, but they will happily attack well defended 8's while a nearly empty 20 sits nearby.
i like the idea of earning the cards by beating challenges, and the game seems to work well, for what it is (as flagged above, rock, paper, scissors) but that's just not my thing
the same folks made a game called balloon invasion, if you think this has too many levels and is repetitive, check that one out. this is a well made TD game, admittedly a little long and with no real curve balls thrown in to make it particularly harder or more interesting as you go, but it's solid. it's certainly no better or worse than protector, and that's one of the best rated games on the site.
Doomed Heroes
Dude! You just completed the Doomed Heroes achievement in Monsters' Den: Book of Dread and won the Doomed Heroes badge and 30 points!
Warrior, Cleric, 2 Summoners
Warrior gets Cleave, Inspire, and Adrenaline. Summoners and Cleric each get revive ability, cleric also gets Blinding Light and Purify. One summoner gets Banish and War Golem, the other gets Blood Sprite and Eldritch Aegis. Treat the golem as a permanent member of the team, get the three group buffs, and go for it. I quit after level 41, but there was no question that I could have gone much farther, none of the earlier levels were remotely challenging. Sometimes you have to let a guy die off (to remove blindness, or the nasty damage debuff from the Dwarf Warriors) but otherwise I think that I only had 1 accidental death (including the golem.)
This survival badge is incredibly boring to get... You need at least 2 people who can revive the dead and then you simply kill off all but 1 monster in a round then pass till you recover. It's mind-numbing... Of course, after hours of mind-numbing stupidity, the enemies all ganged up on my two guys who could revive and killed me off at level 35. Bah. Go for the guys with group buffs, they stick around permanently. Occasionally they get permanent debuffs and you have to let them die to get the things removed (blindness, -50% damage, etc)
It's an interesting idea, but the wait before and after a level are ridiculous and winning is just too easy. A multiplayer version sounds good to me though... 2/5
I figured out a good way to solve the puzzles when I was a kid. If you look at the picture the way you would a Magic Eye puzzle, the differences pop out (and the visuals are even cooler looking, they appear more 3d.) The art is fantastically cool and eerie, 4/5.
Not so happy with the sychronization with past behavior. I can't manage to get past 18 because the second guy I load winds up running away and knocking out the floor in front of the others once I get the fourth one loaded. Fantasticly fun game and really interesting idea though.
