@ancient: the point of this kind of game is that it only takes a few minutes at a time to stay current. It's not intended to be one you play continuously. It's supposed to be one where you load the page, keep things going, and the tab out to come back in an hour or two.
why are we punished for purchasing units? They not only detract from the same resource used to upgrade yourself (gold), but they lower your population, reducing the xp bonus. If they were uber-powerful things that actually helped, ok, I see the point. But they're sad little weak things that you're FAR more likely to shoot in the back than actually DO anything. And I do realize that saying something negative about a game, no matter how well thought-out or true, will be mega-negative voted. Just thought I'd vent.
well, just found a rather major glitch in the final battle: about 5 rounds into it, my last guy and the boss's final guy both stopped hitting. NOt that it gave a "blocked" or "resisted" message, just that the animations for our attacks would go off, but there would be NO indications of any effects applied.
well... at 140 emitters, a glaring weakness in my defenses became apparent, and by 150 emitters, I was losing. Still haven't died though, as I've found an exploit: the creep's ceiling is lower than the height at which the base flies, thus, to survive, all one has to do is have the city "float" and never land :P Which actually gives me an inspiration for a different defensive setup...
yeah... a game with graphics this terrible has no business hogging so much system memory. Combine that with terrible music and bland gameplay... WHY do people like this game?
simple game, nothing about it to make it stand out from the horde of other platformers out there, except terrible music.
and for me, at least, the game is jerky and the controls unresponsive.
game dropped 2 stars for me when I beat every level with the SAME strategy...
and now that I have... I do not appreciate that the game isn't unlocking some unit and I can't get the last achievement.
HUGE fan of the series, but I am finding 5 to be a let down. Trivial difficulty to beat the story, no real involvement once the battle has started, and no real depth of content on the scenarios.
core game is fun, but the controls are sluggish, the scripting is bad and sometimes incoherent, and the mechanics need to be refined.
all in all, though, this is the rough start of a potentially great game series.
if you get someone to polish the script and make the controls more elegant.
wow... I entered the sewers, took a right, got up on the left-hand ledge, warped the level to be able to go back, and ..... now I'm stuck appearing in the middle of a solid wall. It's just one death after another, no chance to do a thing....
I think I broke the game.
