Several things, you can use an interesting twist of "Episodes" to make it interesting. Say a level that requires you to simply dodge stuff and catch citizens (no enemies) or something like that, you know? Also… Why can't I pause?

I think the side of the paddles facing the wall (not the sides facing each other) should be faze-through… That way, people don't get about 20 points from the ball hitting the Red Side then the paddle and so forth
Great for your first game, but I think the controls should have a bit more length, meaning you could you keys to move, or maybe fire, things like that :)
