Kinda boring, but not really scary. For me, any pretense of horror stopped at the point when the main character said "I need a weapon." The villain's monologue at the end clinched it as not scary. Getting rid of a lot of the dialogue would make it scarier for sure. As would not being able to see the monsters. The shadow-monster that stabs you partway to the elevator wire was great.
I'm not sure what just happened. The turtle got hit by a jeep and a bob-bomb at the same time, squeezed between them, then shot up like a rocket. Later in the same run, he got hit by a jeep again and squeezed between that and a machine gun, shooting him up into the air in the second, but not last, of that wonderful, wonderful long run.
Woohoo! I finally got the Boss Hunter badge, using all mage equipment on Hard difficulty, with lots of heals, freezes, and a few lightning bolts. IMO mage hat and robe and mana staff are the best for foe rush and boss rush due to having infinite healing power (just dodge and hit stuff).
Awesome simple game, reminds me of Hero Quest (when my friend modified it to give us level-up abilities =P). I love the graphics, the simple skill tree, the simple move-damage system, the fact that you can attack twice at level 8 (which took me until about the last level to figure out, but that's ok)! The x2 ability might be more balanced if we were forced to use 2 different abilities. But as-is, it gives the awesome ability to attack twice, which I love, and that actually makes it possible to fight stronger enemies =)
Awesome art & uniqueness, bad gameplay. Annoying: the warrior is terrible, the scoundrel's 3rd skill is outclassed by the mastermind, all skills take AT LEAST 7 turns to go off but gold trophies require them or extreme luck and if enemies have the same color I'm boned, shield and heal are both useless and can't be gotten rid of, dialogue is glitchy, attack actions take a LONG time and get boring, and it took me 5 tutorials to get how the game actually works. I beat chapter 2, but don't want to continue the game. Skills that take 7 turns should be bombs, not cantrips (eg Switch). Getting 1 skill point per level when it takes 2+ skill points to level up any of my skills just makes me feel bad. Why am I'm fighting storm troopers with lightsabers? There's no incentive to optimize stats because there's no guarantee I'll be able to use them. I got "Teched the Impossible" before I knew what a perfect kill was. I love the effort that went into this game, but I have to give it as-is a 0/5
1. Love this game.
2. Bug report: While playing Boss rush on Epic, after beating the rock/glacier boss, the teleport to the last boss didn't open up. I also got a screenshot of it for proof, but dunno how to post it.
My review of the game:
This game is really well constructed, and I love it, just as I love the first two games. Having gotten all the medals, I especially like how all the treasure chests reset in new game +, so I can repeat the game with all the same stats and open up the treasure chests in the 60 medal area again and again (by beating Akron and repeating the game over and over).
