I purposefully lost to the hydra lair, because the reward says that if you lose all units you gain a hydra. But this also lost the game.

Warning people that they can't change their archetype once they start? Sorry, I don't want to read some kind of newbie file about which class is best before I even start playing the game. I'd rather just play some other game.

Since you have 10 item slots, you have up to 20 enchantments. People seem to agree that the best late-game enchantments are MP regen, HP regen, decimate, and bleed. These can all be gotten from the 70th level shop, which you can make repeated trips to buy ingredients (as well as buying potions to transmute to permanency for the 80th level boss). The best ingredients are: heart of darkness: 6 decimate, bloodthorn: 8 bleed, bezoar stone: 7 hp regen, fractal cabbage: 2 mp regen. Blue berries are OK with 6 hp regen: mortimus iron isn't worth it with 1 mp regen. There's no really good MP regen ingredient, so keep equipment pre-enchanted with 5 MP regen.

I think damage works like this: attacker has a damage range, and a die is rolled to see which number you get i.e. 2-5 equals 2, 3, 4, or 5 points damage. Defender has an armor range i.e. 0-2 equals 0, 1, or 2. Subtract armor roll from attack roll, and the result is damage done. But also, any melee attack (with sword, mace, or axe) does at least one damage per hit. Magic and arrow attacks can do zero damage. Fighter-type characters start with 0-2 armor, mages and so on with 0-1. It's very difficult to add more armor: rune of protection gives +1 to max range, and plate mail gives +3 to max range but you move only one square which is pretty crippling unless you're an archer with a +range bow. So it's pretty impossible to have a tank that just soaks up damage.

Why is everyone asking for all three chars to be customizable? You can do two by editing one and importing one. There's no reason to have premade chars at all, and no reason for imports, if you can just make and pick 3 superpowered ones. Also, healers aren't totally underpowered; I think that Crystal is worth taking both for innate ability and possibility of +3 mace.

Things that add to Threat: exploring a new space adds +1 sometimes, not always; starting a combat +1, each additional round of combat +1, ignoring a cult ritual +10, forcing the door to leave the level +10, failed searching or chest opening with no thief class +3, reviving a dead hero +variable. Things that decrease Threat: Cleansing Blade kill -1, Sanctified Mace crit -1, decline battle with spirit -5, find glyph -5, read book in chapel -3 (sometimes), buy Blessed Scroll from man -5 (only if you have 100 and buying a glyph), kill Vampire or Forsaken Horror boss -25, free Masked Prisoner boss -3. Ancient Evil fights reset Threat to 50.

Ha, all-time high score! (briefly, anyways) 3766 on Infinite. Used two melle monks and Crystal, melee monks with Cleansing Blades, Crystal with Mace of Restoration. Haven't found a defensive item yet that seems to make much difference.

All of your glyphs disappear whenever you fight the Ancient Evil. They in theory do 10 hp damage to the Ancient Evil each, although you can't seem to kill the evil outright with enough glyphs (even though they all disappear). Not being able to save glyphs through an Ancient Evil fight is a major limitation of the game; it means that you can't stockpile them if you're lucky early on.

All right: one more comment about Infinite! I got the idea of having all three heroes have the same weapon so I'd be more likely to get the right set. So I tried two mace monks and a cleric, but Sanctifying Maces (-1 threat on crit) didn't work well enough, even with the gloves that give 50% crits. So I tried two sword monks plus Greg. That worked pretty well: got 3 Cleansing Blades, ran down to level 10 and got a top 10 score. You can sort of barely keep up with the Threat level, but what will eventually get you is that the monsters seem to add max damage as you go deeper. You can't really add to your armor to keep up, so you eventually start to get killed too much.

ninjakiwi, this sucks. In addition to the grind which everyone commented on, every modern flash game made by a gaming company now has automatic pause when your mouse pointer goes out of the game area. What does yours do when you move too far down or to the side? Pop you into the upper left corner. Fail, novice programming by people who don't care.

OK, here's hopefully my last comment for Infinite mode. Is it possible to play indefinitely? Probably not, but the only chance seems to lie in not continuing to face the Ancient Evil, because the tentacles will eventually overwhelm you. The only way I can think of to do that is to get two Cleansing Blades (kill: -1 Threat) and kill everything with them. That might reduce threat as fast as it builds up. So a party of two melee monks and a cleric with mace of restoration might be able to do it.

The two-ranged-monk (one imported, one created) strategy for Infinite fails once the Ancient Evil gets enough tentacles, maybe around 8th level. Once you get swarmed too badly, the ranged characters are always getting knocked down and revived and while they're doing that they can't shoot and can't heal. I tried beastmaster / illusionist / Nerdook to get a wolf, 2 illusions and a skeleton as counterswarm, but that failed at about the same point. Any other ideas?

The best set of characters I've found for Infinite so far: Nerdook (because the summoned skeleton can revive people), Crystal (because you'll eventually get the +3 heal all mace), and a custom character with the 2-3 base damage bow and Assassin. Assassin might not be the best special (it adds one damage, basically) but it gives you a thief type character in the party, which is good for chests etc.

When this game gets badges, *please* do not have one being to get all the stars. The challenge star for which you can only use The Eye and nothing else is extremely annoying because it uses fast reaction skills that aren't why I otherwise like the game.

I thought the good doctor's research plan was flawed. So he's doing some observation of reactions, and eventually figures out how to make zombies interact with household items non-aggressively. That doesn't seem to translate into anything useful either in a combat situation or long-term. The saddest part of the game was the way his research project just trails off with the final objective. Unless there's something special you get from 100%ing it?
