I'm having the same problem as several other people, it would seem. Buying craft upgrades actively pays me a small amount each purchase instead of deducting my money. I thought it was something that just happened after 5000 purchases.
I appear to have broken the game. My best weapon went from doing 1.28billion per swing to -1,114,244,685 per swing with an average dps of -5.227 billion.
I am terribly sorry for spamming but I've got something of an update on my situation. Around level 1000 the money awarded finally caught up with the advertised award-able money.
A bit more criticism:
The "Craft" and "Damage" button's pop-up text is cut off and the white on black text and text box is not terribly appealing.
It took me a while to figure out exactly what the garden buttons did as they lacked a description box like the other buttons. It took me even longer to find out that I could click the tree and longer still to realize that I could shake it about.
I've done a bit of testing. It is at level 500 that the money value switches and lowers to almost nothing. At level 499 I get between 200,000 and 300,000 per kill. At level 500 I get..well two copper coins. I'm not entirely sure what they're worth but I've been watching the money counter for a few minutes and it's not changed.
It does not appear that the monster's gold output actually matches what I am receiving. I am on level 527 against omni 6x spawn which advertises that I will receive 276,678 gold per kill. I did the math and am actually only receiving 27,000+/- gold per kill. I only have noticed this massive decrease since somewhere around level 500 (I've been blasting through the levels since buying the max fruit spawn rate so I'm not sure exactly when it happened.) Is this a known bug or a mechanic that I'm not aware of?I've got some screenshots.
Also in the form of criticism, the buttons in the "Upgrades" tab have rather large invisible clickable boxes around them that expand several inches to the right of them.
It's definitely not an idle game. It feels more like a really poorly and lazily built battle card game. It has nice art assets but I can't help feeling that they're just direct copies from the other games. Not worth much more than one or two stars.
It was enjoyable enough for a short time but is not very polished. Several times in the first two zones after buying all of the upgrades I'd end up boosting off of a ramp and hitting an invisible ceiling then falling straight back down. The floor also does not seem to match the textures of the rocks when going through the first large cave. I also dislike that all of the cosmetic upgrades have varying degrees of usefulness. I felt that the top tier of +gold body modifications were ugly as sin but I bought them anyways because of the bonus. More variety would be nice.
It's a silly criticism but I suppose me noticing this means that I really had to struggle to find something wrong with the game but when ever the tank uses it's machine guns, the ejected casing art shows it ejecting complete bullets instead of spent shells.
There are a number of spelling errors throughout the tutorial and tips when clicking to new locations for the first time. The name pop-up when mousing over locations that are close to each other does not show up if you mouse too quickly. Otherwise it's an enjoyable game if a little short. Still worth 4 stars though.
Also the objectives could definitely benefit from being dynamic. I've had to destroy, fire, or otherwise remove my entire building at least once at this point to please an objective that I took a while to complete. "Have at least 20 offices" has been on my screen for ages because I've already got about 40 offices but it does not register those.
There's some weird AI pathing going on with my elevators. I have elevators going to specific floors but workers on floor 2 refuse to get on the elevator to floor 1 to take the next elevator to floor 3. They just stand in their offices until I open up the other elevators to the upper floors.
First impressions are good. The sound design is fantastic. I'd like if adjusting the "Sound" slider in the options menu would give off some feedback on the actual volume that it's being set to. Perhaps a slight "ding" similar to the sound of opening the menu. Also, bugger that black stuff! That was very difficult but in the teeth gritting, keyboard breaking kind of way. The good way. It's good to see a game with a few teeth still in it and not a big red "Press Here to Win" button. Not perfect but close.
I think the game broke for me. I managed to click the two tutorial buttons in the Tavern then when it told me to click the first icon on the dungeon map my character indicator on the map shot off to the right of the screen and now the party is slowly walking down a cave and no other buttons are interactive.
I was trying really hard to like this game. The original was one of the first games I favorited on Kong so I was ignoring the bugs until I got a bug that froze my game at the end of a day and when I reloaded I'd lost about a week's worth of progress.
I originally gave this game a three star until I started experiencing the 7 day bugs then I dropped it to a two star but now that the bugs are actively destroying my game I'm dropping it to a one star. It's rather painfully obvious that the developers have stopped caring about this game, which is a shame, but now I have as well.
"Tweak the money ever so slightly so we can gain a touch more" I strongly disagree with that. I obtained my choice weapon by level 2 and had it fully upgraded before level 10. The only reason I continued to level 25 was to see if there would be some new monsters or locations but there were not. I like the potential of the game, though. 3/5
Fixed!
