Great game, could use some typo corrections here and there, but that's minor.
TIPS for people who find it hard: After you start new game - keep upgrading market for 10 or so turns, then start getting the first few unit buildings and hire maximum you can. Upgrade every resource production building at least once then keep upgrading market till it's 25 or so - after that your gold production is HUGE and you can start rushing the unit buildings/resource buildings/whatever you want. You don't need to upgrade wood/iron/stone past level 5-10, this will be enough. Other resources - upgrade as much as possible. Don't bother with weak units, they die too easily - try rushing best unit buildings and just build them up. By turn 600 I have 1 million power and I am only at 15k or so fame, which means I am only fighting like 50-100k power enemy.
Good game, planet alignment grinding gets a bit boring near the end. Needs some way to either keep fighting on the same planet without going to another and then back to the one you are on or at least a way to attack planets not currently under attack. Trading takes realy long when main planets run out of them and you need to wait for recharge.
Other than that - great game, especially since it's still in beta.
Easily one of the best tactical RPG series on kongregate, I am surprised how underrated this is.
Great story, well balanced, interesting to play, quite lengthy, but entertaining all the way to the end.
With such ending - I wonder what kind of episode 3 could we have, if any.. a bit underwhelming, I mean, it was so obvious what will happen starting from mu episode one.. at least the video was a bit good.
If someone has problems with starting/forgot how things were - start off with writing 'help', after that it's all pretty obvious... you may need to google some things to proceed, just like in mu episode one. Good luck solving this one, it's much harder than episode one.. I am still stuck in 2 places despite knowing what to do.
Just thought it's worth mentioning to whoever wants to start playing: got a reply from support that you won't be allowed to play this outside of kongregate, so if you are seriously into it, I suggest registering in the main site of the game, otherwise you will have to play through browser on kong.
It's really weird how this crap ends up on front page every time it's out.. massive vote abuse? I don't know, but kongregate seriously needs to check onto this.
So frustrating how you can't do anything to help a decent underrated game to go into the hot section for more appreciation, yet this conveyor crap keeps popping every time... Well, another 1/5, at least this doesn't last long...
@pokoloco: you must have misunderstood something in my guide, since I tested it on multiple systems and it works perfectly fine no matter the resolution of your monitor, be it laptop or even wide screen. But I agree with your opinion and suggest that everyone who is interested in playing this for serious - don't play too much on kong, register account on the official site and play there, sadly kong has a low amount of support for this great game.
If someone has an issue with making full screen realy full without black stuff or whatever else glitches you encounter, here is a small guide: 1) Put WINDOWED mode, put maximum resolution, which is probably 1920*1080. 2) Put full screen and choose whatever is same or lower than that resolution. 3) Enjoy. This way you can enjoy pretty much same experience that client users do. Game is pretty resource efficient, so it doesn't take a really great PC to do good and it has no memory leaks, so you won't find yourself refreshing hourly. The only thing is - it drains more internet traffic and has a bit slower load time with bad internet. This shouldn't be an issue for at least 90% of users. A 5/5 game no doubt, but it does get boring after a very long while, just like runescape.
Okay - to clarify, this is not full game, that's the reason it feels unfinished - full game will be purchasable in steam.
As for the game - found it way too easy. Beat it in 4 days, could have done in 3, if I knew boss would be so much harder than the rest of the game. Only reached lvl 23 when I ended. Here are some tips: 1) Get the heal spell ASAP. Afterwards learn the whole combat tree for good early advantage. Finalise with either potions or go for transform spell. 2) Pray you get lucky to find artifact helmet with 4 mana regen, it's rather early game. If you didn't, it may take a bit longer to progress. Always buy artifact from the NPC in town, it's often stronger than the one you own. Buy the high HP regen/all mana regen craft items you see in the shop and imbue your best artifacts with them. 3) Buying potions is a good idea, just be sure to leave enough money to buy artifact in town. 4) The quest for the berries in the inn can be done if you transmute said berries.
Some nice games coming from the dev lately, I highly suggest you stop with the puzzle genre, which your games were at best slightly above average and continue with making awesome action packed games ^^ Another 5/5 after forbidden arms :)
Thanks! A little something about game devving, tho: As much as we want to make awesome games all the time, the budget to fund it is something that always come from our own pockets. and as much as i don't like doing sidelines or freelance work on other games, it's something i have to do to develop the game i really want.
The game is enjoyable at first, but it's getting frustrating when you figure that absolutely EVERYTHING lottery based is bugged... Artifacts which boost stats for certain set are bugged(easily checked by checking actual HP in battle, it will be pre artifact HP not the artifact one, same for the attack and most likely speed).. Simple lottery is totally bugged, it may keep rewarding you same item, that same item STILL is gettable as random drop, well, frustrating is 1 word.. especially considering the lottery animation takes a good 15 seconds of just staring onto unskippable animation >>
Okay people, just not to get your hopes up: game is not finish.. at certain point the main quest ends abruptly and there is a statement from author that the game probably won't be finished at all.
It's still a great game with fun combat system, albeit a bit easy even on hard. The customization of the player is greatly done, many options to choose from.
5/5 despite being not full
Thank you! In hindsight, I would have made the game harder. But I wanted even the most casual gamer to be able to play it and kick ass.
There's still 3 hours of gameplay though. So I hope people find it worth playing still.
It's a fun game, but hard badge is a bit too much.. even medium would be too much, it only takes 20-30 minutes to complete it on first go.
Well, can't complain, now that's my easiest hard badge earned :D
@Nergaal: the newspaper is realnewspaper... if you search those same archives in google with date of the message and page 23 then you will get that tv brand is Admiral
A few tips: 1) Make sure you distribute all chests to increase army capacity.
2) Always max out ranged units and have 1 of the most tanky melee units to minimise losses.
3) 1st ranged available is arbalester, 2nd is goblin in the cave, both are very good till the end.
Ideally you won't ever lose any unit outside of plot battles.(you can replay to minimise losses..) most important is to place a tank so he absorbs 1st strike from ranged units and put shield on him.
Thank you! We'll try to find and fix the grammatical mistakes; also, thank you for your tips: we like to see gamers help each other! ;)
