I never actually left a comment here like I usually do after I'm done with a Kong game, mainly because I could not think of words that would both fit in a comment box and do justice to this incredible game. I'm an avid gamer with a Wii and a 360, and yet this is seriously the best game I've played since Rock Band 2, which is my favorite video game of all time. Thanks for a great 3 months, Tukkun. =)
Game was pretty good, 4/5. Weak points were the mysterious ranking criteria for side missions and noticeably broken English in several places. I still have no idea what "kill 25 soldiers with the rails" means, and apparently "Loose 500 lives in one level" actually means "Kill 500 enemies in one level"...yeah.
TotalBlank: For the side missions, the rank isn't just time-based, it's also based on how many things you blow up. Try to make sure you've killed everything on the map before winning, that should improve your rank.
Excellent puzzle game, 5/5. Interesting mechanics and some very well-designed puzzles. My favorite by far was "The Alchemy Lab" gold solution, followed by "The Forgotten Chamber" gold solution. Would love to see more puzzles with varying types of objects to place, like moving baddies or block-track switches.
At first the game frustrated me and I thought I'd be giving it 3/5 at most, but by the time I was done it grew on me, so 4/5. A-rank should be renamed to A+ or S-rank (and B renamed to A, etc) and should not be a badge requirement. There should be a key (like R) that lets you instantly restart the level with no animation or delay, and dying should similarly restart the level immediately after the death animation, without that silly "Game Over" box and the need to click.
satansFinger: There is at least one Gold-level solution for every level that does not require using that interaction. Though I do agree that it should be documented somewhere.
I honestly think that the reason this game has only a 4.3 is because it was included in a Kong quest thing, and thus a lot of people who would be bored by any RPG felt the need to play up to the end of the Sun temple, and therefore felt entitled to rate it. Which is really sad, because this game is way better than any other game on this site IMO =(
3/5. I feel like you could have done a lot more with the "multiple people" mechanic; the puzzles were really just too easy, especially given the potential that the new mechanic brings. Also, the music got repetitive and the real time limit on the last few levels was more of an annoyance than a challenge.
SPOILERS*****************************************I solved "Brighter" by simply looking at what the words said at the brightness I usually use, and I heard the guy in "Louder" quite clearly with my normal volume. Then, I solved "Smoother" by zooming in before clicking on the button to enter the level (since it doesn't let you zoom once you're in the level). 3/5, the puzzles were okay, but having to reload the game again and again and AGAIN was just painful ("Loader" is really, really stupid and just an exercise in tediousness).
I love this game, though it's a pity the green balls issue exists (the game simply does not ever speed up or get harder at all for some reason), but 5/5 nonetheless for a really fun concept with great music.
5/5. Unlike the first game, this one is actually appropriately ridiculous in terms of how many upgrades there are and how everything has to be upgraded, and the humor is really damn funny (especially the "premium content" lolololololol). Shame the gameplay itself can't be upgraded (maybe have powerups, or ships that do more interesting things, etc), but worth a 5/5 anyway just for being a really funny experience.
While I support the point that this game tries to make (that far too many Kongregate games substitute a braindead upgrade system for interesting gameplay), there's really just not enough humor in the game to justify the fact that it has even less interesting gameplay than the games it parodies. 3/5
5/5, 6/5 if I could. This game is really awesome and IMO is one of the two games on Kongregate that really outshine any others I've played (Mardek RPG: Chapter 3 being the other). It gives a great sense of skill progression while still occasionally yielding some power to the player through upgrades. The Bestiary is also really cool, and the different game modes are all really fun. The only minor beef I have is that it's a little too hard to get the Queen-killing achievement once you've unlocked Razor Queens, and that the achievements for finishing nests with certain restrictions are really just not reasonable as "secret" achievements. But again, those are really minor beefs; this is a really top-notch game.
I forget if I've left a comment here after the 150+ hours I've spent playing the Mardek series, but in case I haven't: this (meaning the Mardek trilogy, but especially Chapter 3) is one of the best JRPGs I've ever played, and I've played a LOT of JRPGs. I feel it stands toe to toe with the very Final Fantasy-style games it parodies--including the FF series itself--and even surpasses them in many ways; what it lacks in graphical wonder it makes up for tenfold in incredibly well-written humor and dialogue. It amazes me that this game/series was created in its entirety by just one individual, when it's honestly a more deep and enjoyable JRPG than many major console titles from serious gaming companies. Pseudolonewolf is one extremely, extremely talented individual and he should be very proud of his work. TL;DR: this game rules. Infinity/5, can't wait for the rest of the chapters =)
4/5. I really like the use of a FFX/FFXII-style level up board, and the game is quite fun. I'd have preferred some more challenge, though; the game was honestly a bit too easy. Also (and maybe on a related note) the minions REALLY lagged my computer, even on the lowest quality settings; not sure why. Again, fun game.
