BUG: Dying often leaves open the Level Summary screen - not clickable, but make seeing the playing area very difficult. Refreshing the browser is the only cure. AI target choice is terrible - towers shoot a slow boss barely into the maze while a swarm of minor creeps exit after going through half the maze almost unharmed.
Screens took the lead with 288 Survival Kills - still waiting to learn if 300 is possible. ActiveUnique got 153 Edge*Kills for the third Award - the final is at 170. Nice to see Tribal28 played for a Child Score of 9 and 3 Survival Kills. Can't find the other negative commenters on the High Scores (sent if you die with even 1 kill)
Buy in order 4 Homings, Lightning, ShortShield, Energy Homers, Laser Lock. Lvl 58 is evil regardless of weapon choice - I used Energy Homers, Lightning, Laser Lock, moving slowly on homers except running while pressing SPACE 3 times for emergencies. Lvl 60: Lightning & Shortshield under boss, then Energy Homers to finish him - don't need to survive.
Interface is poorly designed. "Hints/Tips" is highlighted and opens new "game" so Chat is lost. "Game Over" is useless - should tell # kills or boss health. "Shop" is really "Weapons" - can buy, but also equip. Game forces restarting late in game if you bought wrong weapons and not enough cash.
A creatively original avoidance game with upgrades required to frustrate casual play and little depth or replayability for dedicated gamers. Needs a "Choose upgrades" cheat for casual gamers and slower increases for difficulty and upgrade points for dedicated gamers. Difficulty levels could help both. The interface needs options to switch between Achievements, Upgrades, and playing without returning to the Menu. Go for score before time to get upgrades faster. The final award is for 25 plays - reset upgrades to die faster.
Aclors Contact is a casual Flash game for all ages. The graphics are designed for children and do not affect the play. The Edge scoring method is unique and allows slower players and laptop players to enjoy. Getting High Scores is challenging for even the best players, especially Survival Kills and Kills*Edge. Some voices may be rerecorded after the contest ends - the judges are not scoring audio quality. I've played too many boring games with fantastic graphics. This game is fun, assuming people play a difficulty appropriate to their skills for more than 15 seconds.
Ukos was (just now) the first player to get the fourth/final award for 280 Survival Kills with 282. Still waiting to learn if 300 Survival Kills is possible.
@BinyaminTsadik, Could you please at least play the game before declaring it boring? Apparently you didn't complete Wave 1 of any difficulty or even die once (or you would appear on the High Scores.)
@1lespaulrocker Survival Scores are already into the 1400s. Survival Kills is the competition. Best is 277. The fourth and final in-game award is 280 Kills. Lax and the rest of us are waiting to see if anybody can reach 300 Survival Kills.
@Valthacius I would have liked to use graphics for the aliens, but that would greatly increase the difficulty requiring less aliens per minute. This way the game becomes incredibly fast paced. Just adding the stars background made the game much more difficult. I was afraid that using movie clips would cause lag issues common with Flash games. This game will run on any speed computer - Slower computers will have less smooth growth with a little extra time when an alien reaches fully white.
@DeadlyDad Aclors Contact is my first Flash game. All sounds were created with voice into a cell phone, then modified on the computer. The software I used added the distortion - I'll be fixing some of that soon.
You described the algorithm for the aliens rather well. They appear either when you kill the last one, or at 1/2, 1/3, 1.4, or 1/5 (Child-Gamer) of the total time of the last one. The size and speed settings for each color are static for those difficulties, but constantly get slightly more difficult in Survival. Child is meant to be fun for 6-10yos - is rather boring for older players. I would rather a child be able to complete a difficulty than survive for a very short time with one standardized difficulty since part of the fun is the cutscenes.
Computer speed makes a huge difference. Lvl 7 is near impossible on a fast computer. The invisible mouse greatly increased the difficulty - might have been just this computer. Use the slowest computer to make the game possible - will still not be easy. Look for alternate methods - many levels do not need to use the obvious plans.
No instructions about Skips. By the time you realize how Skips work, you've already lost them. Limited number of Skips for all Packs - using one on Pack A means you won't have it for Pack E. Level 20 of a Pack cannot be skipped. Completing the skipped level does not return the Skip (unless you reset the entire game.)
Mission 10 says you need "Planning" but unlocks when "Planner" is hired. The Bonus Mission counts towards the 10 missions for the Badge so you don't need to play Mission 10. Three Specialists are not used. You must buy every level of Engine and Armor; no saving to skip to higher levels. Only one weapon used at a time so save for what you want. Slicks and Mines are not helpful.
You can get the Card by replaying Mission 1 on Easy 5 times. Not very exciting, but remember that greg always defines Cards so that they can be won in one hour. I wish the game saved during missions. Lost the page as I was finishing Hard Mission 8 and starts from the beginning.
The Challenge and Badges are still not working. After winning 1 & 2 on Hard and the Bonus mission, the only change was a check next to Mission 1. Refreshing gave the Pearl Necklace Badge and changed the Challenge to "You need 4 more".
The "bug" was my keyboard batteries dying. Now I just have the lag at the left edge like everybody else. Helps to keep your Fitness low to get the Combo. You can unequip items that boost damage. (I had put all my points into Finesse until I had the problem.) Easiest when against an edge - you can AttackJump into the edge without worrying about aiming. Game is mostly a grind - but so are many other good games
BUG: No keyboard input while enemies are entering the screen. Try to always be moving towards the enemies as they enter the screen to reduce the lag. Also, The Badges are silly - the 2nd Hard was not difficult and can be earned before the 1st Medium.
