I'm still cracking up from seeing this one, I normally wouldn't do this but I'm giving it 5/5 for making me laugh until my stomach hurts.
Not to mention his games are improving, slowly but surely.
Screams stolen again. I mean, the game description & instructions are dead on what's on the 2dPlay site, down to the "Author: 2dPlay" part. Sad, really.
Screams stolen to me as well. For example: upon quit/submit it takes you to the Candystand site, however because it does it as a local link, it doesn't work on Kong. Nice try, but enjoy the ban.
Decent job on this game, sometimes it feels like it runs too slow, based on the guy movement speed, and sometimes the screen goes blue, but the box to continue doesn't show up. Otherwise, I certainly like this one.
Good though you've got to fix some of the smaller annoyances. Explosions can take you out when you don't seem to be near them, or not take you out when they actually overlap the character. I'm assuming your hit test spot for explosions is upper left and you use a square box around explosions, as that would explain a few times I died without warning.
Also, for having the game determine the block explosions & enemies based on jumping you need to make it so that the top square of a ladder is considered a square for a jump, way way too often 'd leap and fall through the ladder, forcing a second jump.
Also, the jumps #'s don't always seem to reset. When I first hit the bomb stage I got wasted because my first jump littered the screen with about 10 bombs, which shouldn't really be possible from one jump.
Otherwise, it's a good game.
Controls suck because it's not designed to handle allowing multiple keys at once. Pressing one direction works fine, until you press another, then it's like you aren't holding down the first key. Eew.
You know, i'd love to give this game a 5/5 but I just can't. I take it in sections, as it's just too frustrating to do in one sitting. I left off at 70 last night and today I'm leaving off at 71, after an hour of play.
You pick a random direction hoping to find an area fast, so you can kill it and hope that you get a random powerup, but that the random powerup is actually useful. Very luckily you get a good one and start tearing around the map, until all of a sudden three areas from off screen that spawned under each other show up and nothing you have can possible fight them off. Course, if you don't get lucky at the start you just die without ever having taken out a single one.
It's this very same thing, over and over and over again, that keeps me from giving this game the rating it really deserves. The top levels are so incredibly random it might as well be "Roll a 100 sided die five times in a row, hope you roll 95+ each time, or you lose."
Sorry man, but this game really shouldn't be flagged as a release yet, it still heavily feels beta. Between the massive frame rate drop just about any time one of my cannons hits a target to the slew of bugs left it just doesn't quite seem to cut it yet. Still, it's better than the beta released before.
