A good way of taking out spawners is to build up 5+ blasters, then send them all over to the area. if you can build your collectors quick enough to resupply your blasters you have "conquered" the spawner, if not, when the ammo is gone (which is why i suggest as many guns as will fit in the area) the creeper will expand and damage your blasters.
I love how every formation is useful, at least until zone 90 where i am. heap can be used for getting farther in the world if you're so close to beating that anomally; dominance can be used on maps, as there is no pierce and less damage than worlds (if you minimize damage); and barrier can be used on void maps to get anticipation bonuses, while still surviving like on a normal map.
i feel like a vs mode could work well, where there's a worker phase, and a plane phase, where you send planes to defend attacks or go accross the chanel and hit germany in three or more lanes for planes to intercept each other across the channel. Also, random events are too often and too bad some times (-10% inteligence means you need 10 more spies, and that means 1 more spies dies a day, which means 10% less men per day, assuming you get 10 men a day),and having a numerical advantage doesn't seem to help enough (i had 41 planes to their 20, they still shot down 22 of my planes). Good game, but it's a little too unbalanced, as out of the 4 games i've played, i've won all four, even though the events have screwed my strategy up a few times per game.
it's cool to think of "what ifs" for history. like what if the norwegians won in 1066, then the 100 yrs war would never happen. my favorite idea is after 1066, england wins the 100yrs war, then somehow the war of spanish succesion (spain and france v.s. coalition of german and italian states, along with england) happens, leading britain-france to rule spain as well. this empire would colonize all of the americas and rule the world, or at least 1/2 of it.
I love the achievement system. it makes you play it once to get 1/2 of them, enough so you can beat it significantly faster the second time (or maybe it's because you know a general strategy) and gain more achievements, while also doing all the special heroes and lance vs pike events to get more achievements, those give you enough where on your third playthrough you can get almost all the achievements. the mix of hard vs. soft reset using achievements is amazing.
Ha. you think 118 trimps is a lot. that's so little. when i send my loyal minions to their graves, i make sure to send at least 150k. I have just gotten collectors btw.
i love it when you upgrade percentages or reduce fire rate, because if every upgrade reduces time by 2 like the machine gun upgrades, 6 pt to 4 pt (one upgrade) increases dps by 50%, and the next upgrade would double DPS. also, with percentages, if you block 90% of damage, then upgrade by 5%, you now take 1/2 the damage, as 95% is blocked.
Remember the good ol' days in the first one where the upgrades doubled your production, not just 25% more. sometimes when i play this i think of those days and how far i could have gotten already if that were the case. think of it, if you have ten books, with 25% it would be 9.3 times more production, but with 2x, you would get 1024x more stuff.
It seems like the AI has an infinite # of mobsters, as in one game i tried to quickly takeover the guy next to me and did pretty well but he always took back one of my territories and i didn't have any money to buy their last spot and the popo where closing my places down and i had no money. this game is good, but needs new features and a more player-like AI so we can devise strategies to defeat them.
