ionut12: New cards are coming. The problem in my eyes, though, is that new cards will be more likely to hurt balance than to improve it, and it could get hairy. We'll have to see how much support Kong is willing to give to patch a few times to fix issues as they arise...
Regarding game balance: This IS a well-balanced game overall. A game like this is ridiculously difficult to balance well, and Sirlin has done a pretty good job for the most part. However, that's not to say there are not a few remaining issues - Helene is garbage and shouldn't be used for example. There are some cards which are a bit overpowered, but none are so strong as to break the game or make most other characters nonviable; even Andromeda or Cain are being used (rarely) by a few top players that do well with them.
AnotherXMan: False. Hit rate debuffs are counted multiplicatively, not subtractively. So if you have a 100% hit rate attack and 2 Shadow Curses, you'll have a 64% chance to hit - NOT a 60%. Dodge effects, however, ARE subtractive. The only way to get to a 0% hit rate is to combine the two; for example, if Popo is Shadow Curses and is trying to shoot another PopoFeather with her slingshot, the hit rate is 0% (.6 * .8 = .48, .48 - .5 < 0.)
ddent123: Are you just trolling now? You actually have a decent skill rank so clearly you know how to play, yet you still keep whining about Popo, ValkAnex, and whatever else. Anex is a lot more manageable if you play smartly and simply never* let her have 1-20hp. (Obviously there are some exceptions, but they are fairly rare.)
Rambo: CC-Girdle still fears Amaya, interestingly enough. Ubie is also one of his main counters, and he doesn't care if he's girdled or not either. (Girdle is helpful against both Rumi and Popo, though.)
runerocker864: Rambo summed it up pretty well - they certainly aren't broken. Broken would imply they were so good that they are required in your deck to do well, which absolutely is not the case at all. They are strong and a little overpowered, but by no means broken.
brainofjikir: CritAnex loses the mirror big time, generally. They can get off a BC perhaps, but ValkAnex PTs them out of the battle before they can PT back.
Rambo: Show me someone that can maintain Skill Rank 32 while running Helene on purpose and I'll consider her Tier 3 again instead of Tier 4. She'd still be the worst character, but I'd put her back under 'underpowered but viable' instead of 'the only non-viable character in the game'.
Well, it IS still fun to play for a lot of people. All characters are viable in ranked except Helene right now. I've never run more than 1 of the top characters and I've always done pretty well. There's a fellow running Amaya and Andromeda that is in the top 100, so you certainly don't have to run the best to do well. You just need to be aware of them and have characters that can deal with them =)
driis: Yes, clearly there is no skill involved - that's why some players are clearly better than others and can maintain very high skill ranks! There are a few balance issues, for example Helene being very awful, but overall it's fairly well balanced and nothing breaks the game. I do just fine without running any of the top characters at all, and others do too.
Jolly: As Ranmbo said, Crane overrides all hit rate debuffs and dodge effects; it is still a bad item choice usually, but it seems as good overall for Higapoo as Insignia anyway. |||| Rambo: That one's been passed down the grapevine, though in direct testing appears accurate. Stun+Bleed always proc together, and if you're using TF they can only proc on one person (but have a chance to proc on each, starting with bench#1 - meaning you're least likely to stun the active opponent.) Herbal Prep is a 50% chance to heal - also passed down the grapevine (I believe people got the numbers from Sirlin or the programmers originally), and also partially tested to appear true.
Jayerleon: Er, what? Learning from others is how we all learned what we know. Nobody needs to try to figure out everything on their own; if someone knows that Mistress's Command's proc is 40%, for example, it's better that that information gets spread - nobody should have to figure it out on their own. |||| ddent123: Popo is fine. You clearly do not understand how probability works. She's amazing 1/8th of the time, awful 1/8th of the time, and average the rest - she has more variance than most so you're more likely to see her being awful or amazing. SS crits 50%, PD will poison 45% - these numbers are accurate. Sometimes you get unlucky, sometimes you own her face. Besides running someone like MLM for non-physical attacks (note VT is the same speed as KB, not slower), you can also use Crane - it's viable on Higashi, anyway (pretty awful on everyone else though). |||| Caad: 'Range dance' refers to the maneuver phase, changing ranges, and the guessing games involved therein.
They have started work on new cards. I personally expect them to take their time and line up finishing cards with the R4 set, so I think it'll be about 4 months until cards are actually out for public release, though I'm not certain. They are being worked on at least :P
shebn: If an attack is absorbed, no items, buffs, or innates will proc - only the attack proc itself will have a chance to happen. There is definitely a yomi element to Teleporting in and then having to go far again, but with Darts doing such low damage against MLM and his ability to heal once he does guess correctly gives MLM the edge. |||| Rambo: There is no 'mess up once and get KOed'; it's a very very simple matter of leaving yourself enough energy to go far when you need to. As above, attack procs will happen but not items. I only said Deadly Poison was disabled, not the attack's proc. However, 2 BBs nets 13 less damage PER SHOT, which is huge. |||| spainard1993: ...What? It wouldn't be a very good measure of skill if you could only go up in rank! It has flaws (mostly that it doesn't properly account for the moderate level of luck in this game; a SR 40 playing SR 25 must win 3 games for every loss just to break even), but going down in rank is par for the course :P
