@orangeduck, points ARE relative to your and your opponent's rating, but 10 is the maximum amount of points you can be awarded for beating someone in the arena. If you beat someone who's about equal to you, you'll get maybe five. But if you fight the same opponent consistently, the amount of points you get decreases with each win. The point is, getting ten points means you've beaten someone whose rating is much higher than yours. But you won't get more than that.
I've just been turned from a guy who was worrying about his essay tonight into a guy with a much more fulfilling night planned out for him. UPGRADE COMPLETE
-MOAR SPOILERS- Second main plot: Dr. +/G and the workers at the facility had been taking people away from their families and experimenting on them with a formula, Formula @73. It gave recipients superhuman strength and focused their minds, but often led to unfortunate side effects, usually mental/emotional distortion. All test subjects were kept in confinement without being told of the reason of their imprisonment. Subject &#! (the character you control) was one such test subject, and a greater one than most at that. Doctors were fascinated at his progress, and soon gave him Formula @73. However, it eventually warped his mind. The doctors allowed him to see his wife and daughter, hoping to suppress the ugly side effects of @73, but this only caused severe mental unbalancing and he killed them both, causing him to be placed in total isolation by order of Dr. +/G.
-SPOILER ALERT- Only read if you don't want to play through the game three times. THIS IS AN ACCOUNT OF ALL INFORMATION ACQUIRED.
There are two main plots. First: a man named Dr. +/G developed a device called the Grav-Null, which allowed the recipient to erase gravity around himself. It was intended to help people, and Dr. +/G was awarded the prestigious 8* medal for services to his country. However, the Grav-Null was turned into a weapon of war, combined with Formula @73 (more on that later) and eventually led to the destruction of the main city, DA 275, and the loss of millions of lives. Horrified at what his work had done, Dr. +/G took his own life. As a result of the destruction of DA 275, city XY 213 was designated as a safe haven to evacuate to, but this town too was obliterated in the end.
Annoying reality: Boulders are exceptionally good at positioning themselves so that you WILL land on them should you choose to jump the dirtpile in front of them.
