It's amusing how levels that try to get you to focus on a certain type of bomb can be easily beaten using previous types. For example, despite its name, "Thick Walls" wants you to try to use an ice bomb to destroy it but can be crushed in one shot with a triple iron shells shot.
Want the hard badge? Slowmo recharges surprisingly quickly, so use it often to dodge large amounts of bullets and then move to the other side of the screen when you go back to normal speed, assuming most of the enemies are dead--you'll probably get out of danger. Conserve berzerk for when lots of enemies that can shoot you appear, and use slowmo to dodge when you can't berzerk. It seriously works.
I liked this game so much that I also beat it in FML mode AND Hyper mode. I slightly regret there not being badges for those achievements, but there you are.
This doesn't change my 5-star rating of the game, but it seems as though Starbuck's "The Ol' One-Two" is just a tad overpowered. Really fast (8 speed), hits really hard (20x2) AND with a high chance to crit? For just 40 energy? Hmm.
If you're ever having trouble with a puzzle, I find it makes it easier to work backwards. Find out which pieces connect to the pieces with the keys, which pieces connect with said connectors, and so on until you're back at the piece you start on. From there it's easy.
I saw all the top-rated comments were negative ones, about Bubble Tanks: Arenas mostly being too tedious and way too easy. I thought, "NO! Not Bubble Tanks! I LOVED BT1 and BT2! Surely no Bubble Tanks game could be easy or boring!" So I naturally gave it a try. And now I revise my opinion. If you're blind, then this game MIGHT pose some kind of a challenge to you. If not, you shouldn't have that much trouble. In short, this game is repetitive and, yes, pretty tedious. If you've never played BT1 and BT2, I strongly urge you to play those before judging the developer. Actually, for the most part (most being 2/3), the BT series was awesome. But, as BTA proves, there's an exception to every rule.
Hooray, one of the first 100 to get this badge. But more importantly, this game is really deep. The message is clear and artistically done, ironic because of the 16-bit graphics. This completely deserves the prize money.
Mode: FML Mode. . .
Time: 47:01.03. . .
Deaths: 984. . .
AND YET I WON. God. In FML Mode, the three most annoying levels are Amazeing (because you may need to die a few dozen times before a navigable path gets set up); Deaf, Dumb, and Blind (because really that depends completely on luck), and Freefalling (because...too many spikes. 'Nuff said). If you're going to do FML Mode, make sure you have some free time.
Love it. The game offered a nice level of challenge that went right up to the brink of frustration on several different occasions, but never actually crossed it*, making for a delightful experience. The game became progressively more fun as the robot powered up, and fighting the bosses was also fairly amusing. Also, KITTY HATES PUPPY! >:D .......*I'm not counting obtaining the Sekrit Item of Wonder. That was kinda frustrating. But worth it for some reason.
