This is a very high-quality game, and the developers are very good at what they do. It's unfortunate that what they do is make this game, over and over and over until it's long exhausted its fun.
I feel that the game has some good concepts, but the execution is a bit sloppy. There's just a bunch of little details that hurt it for me. The sword swing hitting enemies to a side inconsistent with orientation, the lack of any kind of damage timer, the behavior of poison, and the way the graphics feel like more than a homage to zelda, to name a few problems, really sucked out my enjoyment of the game. I got bored and quit at around the time that I got stuck in a room where there were snakes below and to the right of me, where the sword can never hit, and I couldn't hit them back fast enough to prevent them from knocking me back into the stairs, resetting their health. It seems like there's a large and potentially enjoyable game, but the core gameplay needs a lot of polish.
I keep accidentally clicking on the link in the bottom right corner. It's really in a bad place for a game that's all about clicking on things frantically.
It was right after I missed a putt that I noticed the "Lie" icon. I misunderstood and tried to click it. It was a few pixels off! You can just nudge it a bit, nobody's looking!
I feel that the platforming was far, far harder than anything the monsters could throw at me. Especially because most of the powerups helped damage output. They never touched me once but the first time through I fell through a hole at 8000 m and kept falling in pits since, all the way to the end.
That is the idea with a multitasking game: Balance. If you focus on killing enemies, you won´t get touch, but you may fall. If you focus on jumping, monsters will get much closer...
Anyway, I will work on tighter jump controls in the sequel. The results are not the ones I expected.
The "Unbreakable" achievement doesn't seem to be triggering properly for me, and some of the achievements seem to be harder with upgraded birds. Aside from that I had a lot of fun with this, and I'm looking forward to the full version.
Why aren't there enough ability points to get all the things? Agility is 30 short, Dexterity is 40, and Charisma is just a mocking 10 points. Now my elephant will never be cute enough. There are even ten EXTRA points in intelligence! This is a travesty!
I don't understand the purpose of the bullet time ability. There are far too few bullets, even on the final boss, to warrant such a power ever getting used.
While good and fun, it falls into a problem that all computer word games have, that the dictionary is incomplete. While this is no fault of the designer or any human, as such a task as a truly complete dictionary is near-impossible, it does get frustrating when you know a word that fits perfectly that isn't recognized.
There should be combo bonuses for filling up the bar with one kind of yummy, or something like that. The gameplay's a bit shallow right now. Regardless, it is so cute that it could explode, and I love it for that.
