I think it goes without saying that the developer took a "little" inspiration from Knytt Stories. Regardless of originality, the game plays extremely well, is quite fun, even on the hard jumps, and uses a can't-miss playstyle. The story could use some further development, though. It seemed like at its core it was good, but I felt that the sinister aspect of it needed to slowly develop and then be played much more strongly. At certain points, I would be confused at a large enemy obstacle only to realize that "Oh, that's right. The planet's supposed to be evil." It never really flowed together well enough, and the ending was a little matter-of-fact. Improving the atmosphere and story just a bit would really make this game much more successful. Still, quite a good bit of fun.
I've played a lot of these games over the years, but I think that one of the features that makes the games the most replayable is customization and moddability. Burning Sand has had thousands of mods released for it, and had a thriving community at its peak. (I'm not sure how it's doing now, though) I don't expect something like that from this, but it might be neat to add a "custom" element with user-defined properties.
Additionally, I have noticed zombies appearing and infecting areas that I had set aside as safe zones for humans, as a constant supply. How did they get to the upper levels without me going up there?
Upon noticing the new gold system, I think a compromise between the two is in order. The gold should still be set as single bags, but increasing the chance that an adventurer will move onto a tile at an intersection. I really liked the old system's randomness, and the game should keep some of that.
This game is absolutely incredible. I like that it's not an action game this time. Good job covering all your bases and genres, everybody's got to find a good one in one of your games. 5/5
This is quite an interesting and fun game. It is familiar enough to tower defense that you can go in already knowing mostly how to play, but it is different enough that it doesn't feel like a clone. The secondary objectives add a nice mix to gameplay, too. I can play through the game pretty easily if I want to, or I can bunker down for a real challenge to get green squares.
This seems like a kind of cookie-cutter tower defense game. The gameplay seems unrelated to the theme and there is a lack of variety. There's really nothing to set it apart from other TDs, no hook. Still, it's a working, functional, and mildly entertaining game, so I'll give it a passing grade.
Very fun game, nice concept. I like that the enemies infight. The Submit Score feature seems to be broken, and the story has some loose ends. Wasn't there the worry about the assistant spreading the disease to the family?
