There is an issue for when playing with zoomed views. The viewport overlay doesn't increase in size, but we get to see the rest of the map. Please do make everything scaleable in the next version.
I'm not a fan of people scaling the game, or running it fullscreen. We design the game to work at the resolution its set at. To cover up the bits which are usually hidden would actually make the game run slower for everyone, when only a handful of people view it zoomed in.
@K+: Not listening to comments would be bad. If the comments are constructive and point out real issues, it's always good for a dev to look into it and see if things can be improved. Of course, devs shouldn't be too bothered by comments that just go "This game suxs" :D
Quite a fun and fast pace game IMO, 3.5/5. What stops it from being better is an occasional odd bug that locks the directional control.
Vague information on the weapons/upgrades: +dmg means what? the shot does more damage to mobs? + speed means faster bullet or faster ship? What's missile upgrade? Of course we could figure it out by experimenting but it isn't really part of what make such games fun unlike say TD or RPG?
Menu/control layout also needs a bit of rework, it's a bit silly to have to click upgrade again. Given there is plenty of space, why not just put the upgrade controls on the same page? There aren't that many of them anyway.
Fantastic game! Polished, nicely balanced, gets harder without becoming suddenly frustrating. Had me going from start to end in a single session on omfg Christmas, which doesn't happen often :D
Like many others, I like to scale up games on my screen so it isn't a tiny square and got a big WTF when I saw the tiny box this time. I've not encountered the loophole of being able to place bots in the wrong place despite scaling before 1.4. So I wonder if it's a bug not actually related to but magnified by scaling. Please try to come up with a better solution than spoil your efforts with a "fix" like this that spoils the whole experience of a good game.
@ElChivanton: Thanks, it didn't occur to me that the badge was specifically for the mode! Feel like an idiot, although from the comments, I'm not the only one who misunderstood the badge! :x
Yeah, like everybody else had said, the air units are unbalanced. Your advice to upgrade the AA in level 8 is absurd since there isn't 30 air units before that to upgrade the AA. Unless you're saying your game is bugged, and that it should only take 30 air units total in the *previous* levels to unlock upgrades.
Drone towers and rust towers seem to be all that's needed for Normal mode. Just put all points into upgrading drone, then some into the kill bonus and enough into the bank to cover rust tower upgrade cost. Don't even need mega stacks, just a few clusters of 4~5 drone & a rust.
I've played the game a few times saved and reloaded without problems. Maybe it's a specific combo of browser/flash version rather than a bug with the game?
Towns need names. It's a bit confusing with terms like "Second town" and "Fourth Town". Is that the second town AFTER this, or the second town in the sequence? Since there are two forks, which is third or which is fourth?
Like everybody has said, just too many bugs and the stupid control scheme from the original is still part of the problem. The slow mo above water doesn't help.
@vincentp: don't upgrade units at first, put it all into upgrading the mana staff first. Otherwise, your mana regen rate won't be enough to let you put units into the field fast enough. You might also want to upgrade one unit type first before the other, using the cheaper one as fodder while you build up. Upgrading mages seems to be better than upgrading archers once you reach stages that allow you to put barracks on every incoming level.
When placing a barrack or unit, a click should NOT select an existing unit instead! It's frustrating when instead of placing a barrack, the upgrade menu opens up instead.
Although it's pretty old, it's still a fun game. Had more than enough money to buy all needed upgrades by the 11 or 12 battle. Looking at the other comments about difficulty, I think the crux is to buy the right upgrades first.
