The core of a very good game is in place, but there are some major problems. As noted by many others, each level takes way way WAY too long. The visual interface has some real issues. (Don't turn off pathing if I turn it on. If you have ranged units, display the range after placed.) There's no sell function. A few basics needed to make the game engaging aren't there. Shame to put so much work into so many interesting ideas with traps/development, but the game grinds so pointlessly the player never feels engaged enough to try it all out.
I'm in chapter 8. Very fun, but a bit easy. Like sonny without all the frustration. I like the style. Better instructions would help, however. The grid size is just find, but I do need to ditto the "start battle over" feature request. Refreshing the browser sucks.
Okay, so I take it you try to push up right at the first sign... but nothing I do seems to make a difference on the jump part. No matter when I push it nothing measurable happens. Just f***ing awful game design to not tell the player what the controls do.
I don't understand the controls. Here's a novel idea... how about some basic instructions? I try pushing the arrow keys it seems to want, but they don't seem to do anything and there's no information on what I'm supposed to do with those fill bars. How hard is it to include some basic instructions?
So the "extra starting cash" upgrade is selectable an unlimited number of times? You realize that it takes no time at all to set up an auto-grind that gives you near-infinite cash on the very first level? Not much point to anything after that.
Well, that was very fun, but pretty easy and very quick. I raced right through all the basic levels with little challenge, then went back and filled in most of the challenges. Is this worth $5? It's close, but if the rest of the game goes this quick, I'm not sure. I'm the kind of guy this game should target, though, as $5 isn't much. I'll think about this one and might buy it... but I do hope it goes longer than the <1 hour to get through the first two chapters.
So let me get this straight... I make it to the last level, don't leak a single creep, called every wave early, have all my towers completely maxed... along comes Veznan... I kill him, he turns into the big demon... and then WALKS ALMOST UNSCATHED through the rest of the level and right out; instant loss. That's not fun. That's not a challenge... that just makes me never want to play this game ever again or support it. Games need to be challenging but fun... Instant losses like that after a ½ hour spent on one level just beat players up and make them want to never come back.
Yep, several tries at level 8 and I'm officially over this game forever. Air units/AA are so massively unbalanced there is nothing fun about this. Nice concept, but the balance is so god awful there is no reason to ever come back to this game again.
I'm sorry, I'm completely confused. I can only fire one or two bullets every 6-7 seconds? What? Surely that can't be right. I get energy from being hit, but being hit only 2-3 times destroys my ship? Are you really supposed to fly around for 7 seconds, fire one bullet, and then repeat? What the hell is this?
I'm convinced the first red level is totally impossible. I've beat everything except that one. The Colossus can one-hit kill maxed-out titans, castles, anything.... he just marches down the field and wipes everything out easily. How could this possible be beaten?
So I lose once in the beginning, and the resulting penalty to money and... whatever that other **** is, is so overwhelming, I can never win again. This game is absolutely awful. Add in the senseless and poorly-organized UI and I'm astounded at the high rating and badges. Lose the 2nd battle and you'll never win again. Horrible.
Holy God is this cumbersome. Brutal load times, cluttered-beyond-belief UI, and a million clicks just to get to the start of a simple artillary game. Too much, too much.
I actually don't mind games that ask you to pay once. That's just every-day god-blessed capitalism. I have a little pile of Kreds for that purpose. But games that ask you to pay... and pay... and pay... are absurd. No thanks.
This is certainly a big downgrade from the last one. Many others have noted the lack of things to buy and the longer grind. Crusades was incredibly fun... this one is a little tedious. It's actually LESS of the same. Crusades with less to do.
