Up to 500 meters: 1st Gem Green, 2nd Blue, 3rd Purple, 4th Yellow, 5th Light Blue, and 6th Gray. The farther you get, the more gems you see. And the more different colored gems you see, the more money you shall obtain. :)

Thanks for removing the double tap dash. I was going to mention it but didn't want to seem like I was complaining too much. Removing that let me get the hard badge.

This is a fantastic game in my book. I voted 5 stars, and it definitely needs badges to draw more people in. It reminds me a lot of Tower of Greed, but with better achievements, and more importantly, upgrades. Those upgrades give a lot of detail to an otherwise boring game. I might even suggest adding more, such as ultimate upgrades after you've purchased the full basic five upgrades. They could be triple jump, longer immunity after you get hit, two extra health counters, etc.
The recoil, is my one complaint. In the beginning it knocks you back way too far, and almost always if you get hit, you just fall of the edge and die, rather than having the 3 or 4 hearts that you're supposed to. While the vitality upgrade fixed this a lot, until it's not really noticeable, I think the first upgrades should do at least a noticeable amount more.
That said, great game, and please do keep working on it!

Since you asked, my problems with the collision: First, getting hit by a slime I wasn't anywhere near. Second, getting trapped on a corner while trying to jump up one of those center-column jumps. Also, I'm not a huge fan of areas with jumps way too high to get to with a starting character and making them tall enough you can't go down by the time you see the height of the jump.

This game really need pickups (health, shield, slow-mo or slower scroll speed, kill-everything-on-screen-thing, jet pack, etc.). OK it doesn't NEED them, but I think it would be cooler with them.

Scores 975, GRRR, Scores 976 the next run, smashes keyboard and rages quits, goes and buys new keyboard, very next run scores 1,000+ blames original for lesser scores, must have been faulty. Great game, along with the sequel. 5*'s

Just a couple of thing's I've noticed;
1) Gem's which you've attracted but can't get to you (due to a wall) never seem to decelerate, so they glide against the wall... This was a little disconcerting to see for the first time, I thought it was some kind of mimic enemy (ooh, ooh, suggestion? :D)
2) It's possible to double jump an infinite number of times so long as you're in contact with a ceiling of some kind; to glide across the roof.
Other than that, a very enjoyable game, especially for the period of time it was done in :P

Turrets (or whatever they are) should not be able to fire at you until they appear on the screen. It would be hard enough without it, but like this, it's completely impossible.

the controls have become really jumpy since I started,
it's like the character is only listening to 3/4 of what I've been telling him to do...

Not a fan of the scrolling race. It's not like the bottom of the cave is filling up with lava or anything. If it scrolled as you jumped higher, but didn't progress until you climbed again it would be better. You could still die if you fell off the bottom of the screen.

@namtaru: "You acquired this badge on Jul. 09, 2011." for the hard badge for me. Graphics are bad, but it's still a good game. It reminds me of the platforming games from the late 1980 and early 1990s where the screen auto-moved.

I was on fire. I had constant lag which voided my jumps a quarter of the time. That meant a LOT of close calls. At 933m this certain little lag spike hit right in the MIDDLE of my jump, causing the 'fall' sequence to begin. I was expecting 1/2 a screen more jump. I DIDN'T GET IT. I DIED. F*** YOU GAME.

Wow, i must suck, took maxing out to get to like 800m...i'd be nice if my giant stockpile of diamonds could be used for something...the prices are fair at first...but slowly get ridiculously cheap as you start hanging around the upper half of 500m
