If your game becomes slower and slower the longer you play, make sure that everything is getting killed after it left the screen. For example I forgot to kill the ships missiles.

I can't seem to make a sound play... It's imported in the library and the two lines are in the newGame function, but it does not play.
Yes, I did type "_root.soundFX = new Sound(); at the beginning.

this shootorial is great but how bout some more tutorials for different types of games, some advanced ones for platformers and side shooters? Platformers are hard ...

@soshell just make a first scene before the game scene. Put the "stop();" script on it, all the instructions, new game etc... stuff, and a play button.

How do you disable the next, prev and rewind options in the right click menu and disable the use of tab (Makes its so you can see where actions are)

You add a pause function using a key listener. Look at my game, I use it well I think. press p to Pause

its easy just do a hitTest that works in the opposite dirrection. for example:

kelloggs ive followed this tut from number 1 now, and ive been doin a lot of others on the net as well. its the the version of flash you have, its whether it uses AS 1,2 or 3 .

@dryguy.... you don't download actionscript 2.0..... it is the language used in flash to write the code..... just like HTML is web code.....
you need flash to make these...... download the Flash CS4 30-day trial from the adobe website
