I just started the game, but I'm going to assume why the newspaper didn't come.
The newspaper guy got tired of all the monsters and said "Eh, screw it."

This game taught me that bats are WAY tougher than robotic spiders, bandits, or giant creatures that can spit rocks. I should never hit a bat with a sword, especially if it has red eyes to start with. The only way I ever want to fight a bat is in a tank.

on the last island theres an error... a stump is 1 block LOWER than it should be, so you can go to that area and glitch through it which means you don't need the key...

For those of you late in the game and annoyed with having to hit enemies dozens of times, SPOILER: the best weapon in the game can be found in Boon Village and the Desert Cave for 45900 gold. Helps a little bit, but you still have to hit enemies a ridiculous amount of times >.>

Top 5 comments = Top 5 Complaints
I liked the game well enough, but the problems the others pointed out are quite accurate...

finished the game was good but has scope for lot of improvements .like graphics, speed , less stress on hardware like keyboard , option to save the game anywhere, better rewards,
option to use more weapons etc think if possible.I think game in 3d or flash will make it look much better

The save box need improving. I keep warping instead of saving because the buttons are way too close together. Fix please.

ok - there have been plenty of comments about the glitches and negative elements of the game, so let me add that overall, a creative and fun little adventure game. Would love to see a slightly more tightened up sequel !

Bug report: there's a couple places once you get to the Doom island where you can move through to places you shouldn't. One of them allowed me to get to the water at the bottom . . . and then off the bottom of the map.

Um, the cave by a traveling merchant, which you enter by going down into a tree, is it purposely a dead end? Not to mention, moving the rock glitched me into being trapped there... I mean really, what the hell!

Poor ending to an extremely annoying game. Sorry mate, but as much as I love old RPGs like this one, I'm not excited about the sequel. Badges or not, I can't be arsed to play a game where the developer doesn't update or even listens to the comments of his/her own game :s 2/5.

Really fun, I just hate how my attack is almost the same when looking forward (up) or right. This makes us unable to hit enemies coming from southeast, which happens quite frequently.

Seriously though... the one time you actually do something interesting in the entire game, and all it does is pull a cheap stunt to piss of the player. There's a lot of potential here, and the game itself is technically pretty sound. Just tweak it here and there, have some FUN with level designs, and you've got yourself a 5 star game. As it is... it works well, but it's not fun. 3/5 for the ability to program something like this, but it could be SO much better.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY! Don't put a trick like that at the end of a grindy dungeon unless you have some hint so it can be avoided. Seriously...
Pick the RIGHT staircase at the end of the Pandora's Cave, or it will drop you back to the beginning.

The developer obviously put a shit-ton of work into this game, and I think the result is, despite its numerous flaws that the players clearly felt no qualms about rudely and persistently pointing out, pretty amazing. It's a nostalgia trip, a solid blend of RPG- and adventure-style games, and really just something that I can't bring myself to dis for its imperfections. Thank you, matakukos, for putting so much time and effort in and bringing us another great retro game.

Good game. Great play, but only a few problems. 1-Skill points for push and swim MANUALS. 2- To easy to get the best weapons. Those are easy to get past though. So I still say 5/5. ^.^

Did the developers even playtest this game?! 1-star because of a lack of basic gaming polish for an adventure game obviously meant to evoke nostalgia of Link's Awakening (it uses tons of the same sprites and textures).
1- Do Not treat the edge of the screen where you entered as a corner (move into a screen and walk to the side, you slide against the tree and go back to the previous screen by accident)
2- DO NOT require the player to spend a skill point just to learn a dungeon-related skill (once you get the swimming manual, you should know how to swim, and NOT expect the player to level up again just to use that quest-required skill).
These issues are frustrating to the core of the game. The rest is the scaling of weapons to exp/cost and enemy difficulty which, while troubling and unbalanced, is at least playable with less frustration than me wanting to gouge my eyes out with the darn Zombie Ripper!!

Great game overall. One complaint I do have is that fighting with diagonals doesn't work very well; it's not that you get afraid of monsters, or that you look forward to challenging monsters -- it's more about whether or not they can get you at the right diagonal angle that you can't hit them, but they can pounce and decimate your HP in a few seconds. (This even happened to me with a simple snake when I was at level ~16.)
