Under rating threshold (show) I think the take-away lesson from this game is that you can never have too many tiny iron nuggets. Never.

Under rating threshold (show) Game was awesome, but there was only one thing I thought could be done to ease some frustration... instead of having to go to each item to craft it if it contains other craftable items, I wonder if you could add a function that if you have all the materials to create the sub-items it takes to create the main item, that it will allow you to still create it without having to go back and create all the sub-items one at a time.

Under rating threshold (show) @Grellek: Yes, it's tough to see iron on volcanic planets, but that's why you pay attention to your radar, once you've gotten the first upgrade for it.

Under rating threshold (show) I started playing this 2 days ago and I am still playing it. This is the sign of a game that simply rules. The combination of exploration and resource management appeals to me, and the fact that you can travel from location to location expanding your ability and therefore the quality of the items you can find is exactly the sort of progressive gameplay that 99% of games miss. This is a game of quality over quantity, and well worth several hours of play for the rewards it garners. ...Oh and the Farscape references were not lost on me either!

Under rating threshold (show) TIPS: Follow objectives, Move planets often at first, Build modules (it will open other tabs that will make the game have more direction), Research stuff asap, If you trying to build items click on thing you need and it will take you to screen and if researched you can craft it, once here it's fun and lots of play time! It's a GREAT game! 5/5 rate accordingly please.

Under rating threshold (show) People complaining that there is no ending: THERE IS AN ENDING. Once you find all the alien artifacts, a special location is uncovered on the map. But you have to select it to actually travel there and trigger the ending cinematic. This was done so that people could both keep playing and revisit the ending cinematic should they wish it.

Under rating threshold (show) It would be nice to have an upgrade that increases jump height. Or have a consumable that creates an updraft like from the items you're supposed to collect. Even once you upgrade your drill and cooling enough that you can move much more freely and quickly, being able to jump only two squares high can still be restrictive occasionally. You can dig upwards semi-infinitely, yes, but what if there's nothing to latch onto?

Under rating threshold (show) i really liked glean. nice graphics, great music, plenty of details and a decent storyline. but, i guess, planets appearing randomly, when you leave a planet you cant go back. if my observation is wrong then dont mind this. otherwise i should say that it would be great to travel through galaxy freely and return visited planets to finish them. but that ship is searching for his home, so it's understandable to jump through random planets. so it's not a negative comment just a thought. also a horizontal pointer would be nice like vertical depth. 5/5 btw

Under rating threshold (show) The best mining game I´ve seen so far! Different landscapes, a complex crafting system, a nice upgrade system and awesome graphics. A few suggestions though: 1.) Hotkeys for the Modules (T = dynamite, etc.) 2.) Maybe some extra perks when you fully upgrade one section (Full drill upgrade = you can now drill through dense rock) 3.) The ending was a bit of a letdown to be honest... There is no conclusion there whatsoever.

Under rating threshold (show) I agree with Quizer's comment on the need for an upgrade to increase jump and thrust height (Either increasing the height of your jumps, or allowing additional mid-air thrusts). Also... what's with the "Reduces Vibration" upgrade? According to the tooltip, all it does is make Strange Gloop marginally easier to acquire, while making lava painfully slow to deplete to harvest/clear and making it almost impossible to acquire Abnormal Matter without dynamite

Under rating threshold (show) Having played through the game a bit: There is a huge range of usefulness variation between the various upgrades. A bit of spoilage here: Cooling is by far the best thing to upgrade since it lets you go lower. Vibration upgrades make it harder to get lava or do other 'vibration sensitive' things - I now skip them A level or two of optics is nice, but most of the other upgrades don't seem to make that much difference. The 'bonus time' you get is effectively endless. The 'fuel can' consumable seems to provide less fuel than what you'd get for converting the raw materials, is there a reason it doesn't just completely fill the tank? ... Kongregate doesn't support thoughtful comments.

Developer response from okaybmd

Thanks for your feedback. Since many of you have asked us to add an option to split the items into smaller ones, we have added this feature. It's a new button in the ship inventory window (next to Craft Object). Don't forget to go to the ship first to auto-save the game, then refresh your browser. Check if the version is 1.39 K (near the title in the main menu), and then the new feature should be there :D

Under rating threshold (show) Beautiful game, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and wholly agree with the top rated posts. In addition, I would ask that you color items in the menus, making it easier to differentiate between different materials, as well as highlighting available upgrades and researches, perhaps as well as highlighting lacking materials in the recipes menu. Oh, and the coloring is a recurring theme - more colors, I beg of you. In the very least, the tutorial could very well be longer, introducing new materials one by one, so as to remove some of the "thrown in off the deep end" feel it has to it at the moment. I am taking the time to write this because I thought this game was freaking awesome, and want to partake in improving it as much as I possibly can.

Under rating threshold (show) Here are some tips: If you are trying to get more artifacts, always look in glacial planets and with as much depth as possible. If you need lava globs then find some lava and stick a teleporter underneath it then just wait till your inventory is full/health is low and teleport back to the ship and repeat this process till you have enough. Always have at least one teleporter as they are extremely useful and will last until you change planets, and try and place it as deep as possible so you don't need to climb up to reach it.

Under rating threshold (show) Fun game, I enjoyed it for hours. However, the "ending" was such a letdown. I didn't mind the vibrations upgrades. By the time I got them I had a ton of dynamite. More upgrades would have been great. Maybe a jump (thrust) upgrade?

Under rating threshold (show) As an old Motherload fan I adore Glean to pieces, but I have one major quibble: the crafting system. Crafting in this game is an extremely irritating process of pointless menu-hopping, checking the recipe, inventorying parts and minerals, splitting/sticking together minerals into the right sizes to please the peg-in-the-hole recipes... it seems to me a very laborious system that ultimately takes time away from the main, fun part of the game: mining. I would have loved to have an automated system for crafting, i.e. when you want to make a part, you run a little program to see if you have all the necessary parts and materials to make the thing and then it makes that thing for you, no menu-hopping required - OR, if you don't have the materials, it gives you a little error message stating how much more you need to finish it off so you can go on a quick expedition to make up the difference. I'm sure this change would make the gameplay much more free-flowing and enjoyable for future players.
