is there anyway i can get my units to stop attacking a boss because he keeps absorbing everything and i cant deal damage when he heals it all

Can there please be a way to keep track of progress on the skills? Because the stats don't show how much gold I've stolen or the amount of rages or stuff.

I thought there were storyline quests for each faction, but I gave recievd 4 quest from rangers, 2 from mages and only 1 from thieves. I have already completed the main quest by the way.

I find it extremely depressing that this is the most popular Protector game (with the possible exception of the My Pet Protectors). I suppose it's the most accessible game in the series so far, but saying that it's the best is like saying that Diary of Wimpy Kid is better than A Tale of Two Cities because it's easier to read. That's not to say that this game isn't great fun (my analogy was severely exaggerated to make a point), most the other games are just, in the strictest sense of the phrase, of higher higher quality.

My advice. Ignore the melee units, they can't attack flying units and therefore do nothing but suck up experience your range characters need. Instead invest all of your points into either archery or magic. When you look at the scout bar. Don't worry about what the enemies are weak to. Look to see if there is any element on the map that none of the enemies are strong against. There's usually at least one, and about 80% of the time that element is fire. If you up your ranged or magic skills. You should be able to take out all the enemies on the map with just a couple basic units.

Just got the last badge. Incredible fun. This is truly an amazing game, especially for those who love grinding. It's a 5/5 from me.
Moving right on to IV.V now! :)
Too bad there'll be no Protector 5.

Yay I won, it was so hard, so much grinding, so much time spent trying to make friends and to get a lot of the traits...but totally worth it....ok where is Protector 5 and its achievements? (and yes I am aware of 4.5, working on it next)

great game, but I wish the units changed when you upgrade. It can be hard to remember who you have upgraded when you have lots of units

game is not even that difficult.
used two beginning mages, mainly my fire guy, use elemental switch coins when needed past 10th storyline quest or so (can be bought and dropped), and just bumped magic use on both my guy, and my two heros. later levels i bought the coins for magic use and elemental (+6 to each)x6.
pay attention to creatures that absorb.. easy. just can pretty much use 1 hero the whole game, 2 when multi absorbers.
stray off the main quest maps, and you will lose if your not leveled early on.

I agree with uberpenguin.. somehow I can never ever beat the quests that are not ones that are essential to progress the 'story'. Even though they claim to be simple and average in difficulty, they are far from it. I am immediately blown away by the difficulty of the monsters as they run my little trainee mages and my footman soldiers, which can barely kill them; the upgrades and 'level-ups' are not possible because I have not killed enough to acquire gold. It's frustrating, but what can I do..

Near the end, just building up for the last quest. Once again, the game crashed and lost the save game file.
That is a rookie programming mistake. You always protect your data files. I can understand Kongregate not storing them on the server, but I am not going through the wjole thing again.

Augh I sooooo want to beat this game but my computer keeps erasing all my data every once in a while... But I'll try again... Oh and on your next game you make, keep a format like this one, its great.

It's obviously just me, but with this particular protector game I seem to lose...like, always. continually. I don't seem to have any issue with the main quests, but essentially any other 'normal' quest I always get beaten on. And the thing is usually it's not even like the whole thing is too hard; rather I get to within around maybe 5 waves from the end, and all of a sudden some ridiculous wave with 8 gajillion enemies, all of which take multiple hits to kill, comes streaming out of the entrance and absolutely destroys me. The thing is I haven't ever had a problem with any other protector game. This is the first one that I've had an issue with. I'm assuming I must be going about something the wrong way. Since I don't seem to have an issue with the main quests, I guess I'll try finishing those first then trying the 'normal' quests and see if that helps...

I don't see why this is such a great game. It's probably just me though. It's well made, but not m kind of game, I guess.

Anyone else noticed how sometimes you get screwed out of money? I did a massive purge and sold much of my loot (junk) to the stores, but when I navigated back to the world map and then to the store again, the money I raised from selling my loot had disappeared and the loot was still gone! This has happened to me a few times.

I wish there was auto-upgrading of units so I didn't have to click into them, and that waves would auto-send or at least that there was a key code for sending the next wave. Otherwise, excellent game. I've played all the iterations and it's always challenging.

This game is annoying, while in battle you always haave to take so much time seeing if you can upgrade your guys or not.....

Man, I purchased a Skillscroll and thought:" Yeah, nice I'm gonna use it." - a Klick later I realized I just sold it. -.-
CHANGE THAT!
