The game is really good. Every tower defense type game fan will love it for sure. The 3 skill tree idea is pretty good, I like the way you have to spend some time figuring out what kind of skill set will be good for the next map. This game can really be a challange sometimes. I know that Protector 3 was already finished and is on kongregate since long time ago. However, I find this version of the game beter :). I don't know why but it's harder and I like the skill system here much more. Keep up the good work! I hope there will be more to this series. Found it really addicting since my laptop is broken and this PC can't run most of the games :). Good time waster =3 5/5.

YES, I finally got all badges. I don't know how many hours and tries it took, but I finally made it. The last level is kind of tricking =p, but what I realized is: massive damage always does the trick. This game was hard which made the reward seem greater. GL to all, moving on to sequel =D

FINALLY got hard badge... it was the necromancer rowers (wave 19) that kept killing me, because they resist all special abilities and have so much (7000) HP and there's so many of them. Tried a bunch of strategies, but found the best was utilizing a few very highly upgraded (physical, consecrated) tacticians in key places....
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
For the shipyard map i used physical warriors with consecrate, if you upgrade them to max damage they can take the map by themselves.
For the old throne map i just used energy and fire mages upgraded for max damage and 2 physical warriors to take out wave 12.

What's my favourite part of the game? The last baddie who gives me 250,000 gold and 100,000,000 XP. Shame after I kill him, the level ends and I can't use any of it...

Do note that to get the easy badge you don't need to be using a poison mage (which early monsters are pretty consistently immune to), you just need to give them the infection upgrade.

Advice to others 1: Consecration works wonders, and is even better when paired with an archer. 2: Sometimes finding the right element is difficult, try scanning through the waves to see what elements are absorbed, and if there are any elements that nothing is strong against. 3: some levels have NO flying waves, so try massing melee units... 4: Build your skillset around each level, don't just stick with a well rounded one. 5: If you can get to the final boss with 5 or so lives, you will usually win, unless it absorbs most of your attacks. 6: Damage seems to be more important then statuses, try it out. 7: Slow and De-buff help every other units damage capacity. 8: Build from the end of the map to the start, more often then not that helps achieve victory, just don't get careless. PS: Make an impossible badge for completing hardcore mode and I will go for it.

I'm losing the tutorial because I made everyone but one person poison and they heal the rat guy and there is no way to stop them.

For anyone having issues with the final level, here's how I won: Setup: Mage: basic & energy, Warrior: maxed out for tacticians (and fire/energy), General: max lives/cost. Game: I filled up the entire two rows with mages first (no upgrading!). Then, I filled up as much of the upper side as possible with unupgraded warriors. Once the energy teams started, I upgraded as many mages to the 50g upgrade as possible (inflictor won't help). Once they were upgraded, I upgraded both island areas to consecrated energy (since poison will be coming soon). After that, I found the highest-EXP units and made them consecrated fire and focused the last part on making as many powerful tacticians as possible. Remember: Especially at the start, there is power in numbers (and if you don't upgrade them, they won't cause any absorption (although there's no absorption for energy, which is why I focused on it)).

I only wish there was a way to select a target preference, so that I can set my Infection Mages to target enemies with higher health rather than attacking someone who's been poisoned already.

Instead of using the phrase "Playing Time" or "Time Played", it's "Time Wasted". Thanks for reminding me how much of my life I wasted getting the Hard Badge. :|

@Ryan, i feel your pain man this is a seriously difficult tower defense, the whole "xp to level up" thing makes stuff very difficult.

For anybody having trouble on the Cursed Mine map get the warrior skill tree to include archer, then the placement is two fire mages up front use as inflictors with cripple then on the bottom put at least two fire mages to kill straggling bats. As the rats come put two warriors on the front of the middle block upgrade only one of them through these stages: Cold, Armour percing, Specalist, and Archer this should allow you to kill the frogs and bats and the fire mages take care of the wave 5 boss. The protecter series is a great game, Let's all hope Undefined makes a fifth

For New Throne (last lvl) use fire mages with max upgrades in middle row, focus on mages. After level 13 add physical warriors everywhere. Make sure to have unit cheapness maxed. On last boss you'll gain mega exp, use your saved cash to make a few strong warriors and you'll win with lives to spare.

For those curious about how to play Protector: Reclaiming the Throne post-Flash with the SuperNova SWF Enabler plug-in, use this address provided below by copying the entirety of it and pasting it onto the address bar at the top of your browser to ensure that it bypasses the 'GameShell' issue that have plagued many earlier games of Kongregate: supernova://play?swfurl=https://chat.kongregate.com/gamez/0001/7484/live/protector-110-undefined_Secure.swf?kongregate_game_version=1287500377 Make sure that your latest installation of SuperNova works correctly, as it will not function if it cannot load games that can work fine without this bypassing of the SWF files here. As a tip for this game, take full advantage of this game's Protectopedia as it gives out various useful information about the many tower units you will be using here alongside how to make the most of each of their abilities among other tips.

Anyone looking for the badge of the day: Step 1: Play a few waves. Step 2: Upgrade mage of choice by click him then click the the +. Step 3: Click the poison path (skull and cross bones) Step 4: Play some more if you need. Step 5: Level up again, but with infect instead of poison (which will have disappeared). Step 6: Play a round. Step 7: Profit!

scratch that, it does say it in terms of seconds (which is good), but that does still mean that it should reduce 4,0 by 0.4 seconds (10%) and not by 0.15 seconds (3.75%) as the skill says 10%.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@monkkeyaang your right... except for the fact that warrior's can turn to an archer which is the BEST defense against flying
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@JtMA: this wave has 40 Armor, that's a lot, even for no-strengh elements. you need mages doing high damage for these to overcome the damage reduction from armor (which can reduce damage to 0)

So I don't know if anyone actually cared to look at the randomized names or not, but I hired a mage named "Greg, Yes that Greg."

People, if your going to comment on how bad a game is then don't just say it sucks, say what you don't like about it so the developer can see your feedback and make adjustments accordingly.
