I knew there was a reason why I bypassed the game that started it all. The original Protector is ruthless and unforgiving when it comes to skills, elements, upgrades, and even positioning. Everything comes to an exact science. It is definitely the type of game for anyone looking for a challenge.

The only thing I hate about this series is how hard Undefined has tried to make warriors irrelevant. Mages are vastly more powerful than warriors and not only because they can hit flying and are ranged.

I don't know why, but I just started reading the tutorials in Claptrap's voice. It was just amusing enough to go through the whole tutorial again.

@serash1 mages have more range but lower damage, warriors have low range but make a lot more damage. at least the basic units.
@JDcompy thanks for the hint, i didnt considered using consecrate before reading your hint. still a little tricky but I got the badge now.

What's my favourite part of the game? The last baddie who gives me 250,000 gold and 100,000,000 XP. Shame after I kill him, the level ends and I can't use any of it...

So I don't know if anyone actually cared to look at the randomized names or not, but I hired a mage named "Greg, Yes that Greg."

Hints for the Very Hard map. Put 6 archers in the beginning square, use Fire element, and make sure you have enough lives to allow the majority of wave 19 to pass by.

This game is really hard, but I'd rather have a really hard game than a really easy game, because it'll last longer and if you can ever finish it it feels like quite the accomplishment. After playing this in 2009, I still don't have the hard badge...

Captured Shipyard should give the highest points, since beating it is harder than any other, even Old or New Throne. But not to be. Beating Captured Shipyard without any leaks must be impossible.

Man...that HARD badge should be IMPOSSIBLE... i finnaly did it...and i made the idiotic move :) to look at time wasted...46h:08m:18s .... WOW...just lost more than 2 days of my life on this :)))

I love this game for so many reasons. However, there seems to be a fatal, game-breaking flaw: If I put two identical units next to each other that both have the same advantage for firing, one seems to take dominance. One fires and kills things, the other waits. This makes it very difficult to balance units across a battlefield.

For anyone having issues with the final level, here's how I won: Setup: Mage: basic & energy, Warrior: maxed out for tacticians (and fire/energy), General: max lives/cost. Game: I filled up the entire two rows with mages first (no upgrading!). Then, I filled up as much of the upper side as possible with unupgraded warriors. Once the energy teams started, I upgraded as many mages to the 50g upgrade as possible (inflictor won't help). Once they were upgraded, I upgraded both island areas to consecrated energy (since poison will be coming soon). After that, I found the highest-EXP units and made them consecrated fire and focused the last part on making as many powerful tacticians as possible. Remember: Especially at the start, there is power in numbers (and if you don't upgrade them, they won't cause any absorption (although there's no absorption for energy, which is why I focused on it)).

Got maybe 10 battles beaten, and then... it just seems too hard. None of the next maps seem to be quite possible with the several approaches I've tried. Sadly, giving up. Cool game other than that.

anyone else noticed that when a warrior attacks facing south east, he holds the sword with his left hand and strikes with his right hand?

Real nice game. The fact that you don't grind your way through the lvl but have to figure the bed tactic is a real plus. 5/5
