@Bozotic: never. all maps are winnable. the rest of this comment isn't to brag, but to let you see why you can trust my opinion. i play this since way before 2013. probably i played CW:E daily soon after it was first published on kongregate (autumn 2011). the badges to the game were published on aug.10th 2013 and i earned them that day based on my previous stats and because i played that day, too. i didn't play many other games since i found this one. even big games like starcraft or rise of nations just collect dust in some of my drawers. if i play, i play this. if you wanna see one of my tutorials for a difficult map check out the 3rd video on this playlist: http://tiny.cc/cw-tutorials-2016-08-24

The best on this game is that you can set the difficulty level as high as you want to by making up any rules. Obviously there is a basic difficulty level set by the map you play and by the game itself - you need to learn some basics to win just like in any other game. But as soon as you're done learning the energy management and properties of the city, units and buildings, you're good to go and set your own rules to make it more difficult to win. Survival mode, top time score, not moving the city, not using some weapons or buildings... it's up to you :)

One tip I haven't seen is to start each game off by moving your city to a high elevation if it starts off at a low elevation. Then just follow everyone else's tips and people should find this game much easier.

This is by far one of the best defense games there is. I am looking forward to the new game. This is probably the only flash game that I can sit down for an hour on just one mission and enjoy every second of it. 5/5 from me, and I'm sure everyone else who plays this game will think the same. Keep up the amazing work!

i feel that odin city is better off just staying on those planets where I have 5 turrets surrounding the creeper spawns.

dec 10 probably the best survival map *for me* to reach longest time, total 3:14:57 almost hitting 1000 emitter spawn, line up single blaster with C pattern at middle and put mortar among 5 blaster, build reactor till you have 33-34 energy, build at least 3 storage *sometimes energy decreased even though energy usage is 32* upgrade except 30% movespeed. after that build ton of blaster on empty space as reserve blaster, move odin city near blaster line *faster ammo line*
this pattern should able to resist till 183-186 minutes in, after that move reserve blaster to destroyed line blaster if lucky enough should be able to reach 195 minutes aka 1000 emitter

i resisted 46:38 minutes in survival mode - that's total time 106:38 (a valiant stand! score :), emmiters were around 410... i built 1/5 of the map with Storage, 1/5 Speed, 1/5 Reactor, 1/5 Blaster, 1/5 Mortar, plus 10 Drones (2 for each emitter)... worked very good, first 20 minutes were really boring, after 30 minutes blasters were out of ammo and after 50 minutes my first 5 lines of defense were gone... after that it was only a matter of time... the problem was ammo and i kept replacing the towers with fresh ones, but the creeper was quite deep in that time

Final creep level over 620, time: 134m, most of it me AFK. Hint for survivors: make sure you really DO have the energy needed. 30 is not enough for the HEAVY defense you'll have.

I've noticed that if you create a network of relays connecting directly to any of the areas you'll have weapons, it helps to distribute the ammo packs faster.

i got all preped for survival then my base couldnt seem to send enough ammo to supply my tureets even though i my storage kept on stacking T_T
guess theres a limit on how much ammo the base can supply at one time

When there is a solid wall of creeper that has reached the heigh limit, I think you have beat survival mode... Yay for a solid wall of blasters!!

@ brentfall It's possible to last well past that if set up properly - the key is to use lots of drones, and position your blasters well to make sure htey do not shoot creeper they do not have to. Drones are the most energy efficient at killing high densities of creeper (trust me on that one - you can find the math done on that somewhere on the knucklecracker forums), so you want to find a way to spend as much of your energy as possible on drones.
http://i.imgur.com/CRZZE.png - the map I did this on was Nov. 18, 2011, I lost control of the map at about 1250 intensity but dragged it out to about 1350. Another small thing to notice is that I position my buildings like collector-> reactor -> collector, instead of directly connecting the collectors to save space. Most of my blasters are positioned that they will only fire just when the creeper overflows the higher terrain.

They really need to choose a new person to decide where to put the Odin since they need to change location every day...

Instructions unclear. Played for like half an hour on a single level before really understanding what I was doing. Then the creeper became more opaque than ever and reconquered half the map in minutes. defflak is right, this game NEEDS A BETTER TUTORIAL for people who aren't already familiar with other games in this series!

I take back my previous negative comment. This game is very unique and is one of the few games I come to every day, I just want more maps to complete! Currently watching survival mode creepers not get even close to leaving where they spawn :P

people.... look at the credits... and read all the functions Sir Virgil Wall occupied in the creation of the game. All. Seriously. Prepare your roflocopter for takeoff. I warned you. Your sides will leave Earth at terminal velocity. Press + so others can see.

I wish I could understand this game so I could enjoy it like these other people do. I just can't. Alas another badge I won't attain. And yes I did the tutorial but it was already set up with collectors. I tried to set up collectors like that and there wasn't energy output to set up blasters and energize them before the creeper over took me. SIGH

@sapunaru august 13 is actually easy if you know how. Make sure you pause to do the beginning. Relocate odin city to the central plateau, and build 2 collectors to get the 2 upgrades(10% less and you need range.), then branch off the eastern collector to slightly under the little mountain, it should take 2 more.create a mortar that is connected to the second collector out of the 3. You should just have beaten the creeper. after its first shot, move it up to where it is in range of the tiny little poll up north, just a block will do. You can then build to get the totems. Remember, build fast or die. Hope this helps

Yah, I like to end a mission just before the spores land and cut ammo as close as possible. Get as much wiped out after you split as possible.

I miss the fact that there's not an actual game here. There's no real progression of maps from easy to hard, there's no significant new gameplay features. The new map a day idea is good, but you do it and that's that. They don't really have a theme, so it's just whatevs.

14th is probably the most fun level the game's ever produced... definitely the most difficult. I'd love more like that.

142 emitters detected. We're continuing to hold the line. This horribly named 'Wall of doom'. Obviously the higher ups haven't learnt from the Maginot line.
192 emitters. Line is still holding. What? the higher ups are chickening out? They have ordered the powering of the totems? Bollocks, we're doing fine here!

drogon091: There are hotkeys in this game: 1 through 9 for units, x to delete the selected unit, and spacebar to cancel.

@LaBaDa-Suddenly, you glance down and notice that your starvation level is 100. You barely manage to utter a cry of "OH SHI-" before you get flooded. Happy Mortar Spamming.

A big thing to pay attention is than the maximum amount energy you expend is 30 so if you have arsenals that uses more than this total amount, some of them won't get ammunition fast enough even if you have abundance of energy production. Please vote this up so people can see.

"Sir, we have pushed the creeper back and can can now keep it contained on less than .000001% of the planet's surface." "Great job, lets leave" "but we could just live here" "no lets leave" "Wont all our defenses be destroyed when we leave?" "Yes, lets go" "Um, yes sir"

@ whateverguy360- the games object is really simple...protect Odin city until you can get the green totems powered to create the portal through which Odin city must escape the Creeper.

Note for 2017-01-25:
The third rift token is UNDER the orange deposit (the bonus marker) in the top center of the map.
