Even on easy it is easy for the enemies can easily flank your troops. If the enemy gets to the side of your troops can annihilates a good portion of your force. Day 3, the hunters is difficult because of this. Usually, the first few waves are difficult, and the last few waves are easy because you can cover the entire area. See XXDarkShadow97XX's comment.

i dont know why the empire doesnt hire these guys instead of those stormtroopers, theyre resourceful, they know how to fix things (engineers), they NEVER MISS A SINGLE SHOT. And there seems to be infinite amounts of them.

I'd forgotten how much bullshit this game is. Same squad layout will give different outcomes depending on how much the level wants to screw you. Also, unit fire lanes are hardly exact and sometimes they would just rather die than shoot.

The reason they have such strict fire lanes is due to the eye slits in the helmets as referenced before the first mission. Also, it is better if they spread fire rather than getting target fixation on one enemy.

I think the one thing I wish this game had was a fast forward/speed up or progress save. If you mess up a wave going for medals it takes forever to sit through all the same enemies again.

Day 4 special achievement.
Use sentry the first wave. Use sentinel up to wave 15. Always start by wiping it out. Wave 10 is hard and require many the use of many Repulsor tool. Wave 13, 14, 15 requires an wise use of repulsor.
From wave 16 to 20. Do not use sentinel, start using BEAM SOURGE inmediatly until it's over and then finish the rest with SENTINEL.
In wave 20, use BEAM SOURGE twice and cast REPULSE as often as possible until it get recharged.

I actually might have a reasoning as to why the engineers can't turn around. They're noncombatants, and are not trained to face impending danger head on. As such when the aliens/zombies arrive they become FROZEN IN FEAR for the most part and make no effort to move/turn around.

we shouldd be able to buy more things. like- Base Turrets. Automatic ones that aim for the enemy. or things like it takes 'this many' hits to take out a soldier, powers for healing and stuff, and more. dont you think itd be cool?

Um... why can't the defenders turn around when a runner is approaching the ship? It would make a lot more sense for them to actually turn around and do something rather than letting their life support systems begin to damage because of one runner that could easily be killed with one or two nail gun shots. Developers, maybe consider this.

The key to Day 3 is to hide your other (nail) gunners BEHIND the flamethrowers.
Throw out 3 flamethrowers to start with proper alignment, increase to 4 or 5 and then line up your long gunners BEHIND the flames and do not expose them.
I had Single Flame - Single Nail - Line of nail gunners
So the line should be in the 3rd row. Finished Wave 20 with those 5 flamers and gunners arranged behind them, and also had another first row flamer thrown into each corner (to bring the count to 7 total flamers) when I noticed killed coming as outliers in the corners

Maybe its just because I finished day 5 on hard, but I really love the fact that the little light on the planet is flashing "S.O.S". Nice touch guys :)
