Swordplay at level 12 should give a 24% melee dmg increase, which means a melee unit with 15 base power, should deal at least 18 damage(rounded up 19 dmg), but in mission those melee units have 16 (base) power. Why?

So don't buy the scroll of investor (unless maybe you have an insane discount at the store). It cost me 2k and gives you 5gc after every quest. So after only 400 quests I'll make my money back! WOOO! I got scammed...

My biggest pet peeve about this game is that I have to click on the X to close popup windows (like the skill selection tree or pave tile confirmation) instead of just clicking on the ground. I still love the game though

Undefined, if you make a Protector 5, please improve maps, make the protectomon monsters that grant other bonuses than attack stats, and add in more hero slots.

Hi gtcink, to add more heroes you need to add to your "Leadership" in the skills area.
I like the game but get rather confused about many aspects - needs a good clear FAQ/Guide page IMHO. After the first four or so quests I cant win a battle except the ones I beat before... And damn that Absorb Absorb Absorb guy!!! WTF is that about?

UKI36 - Different debuffs stack so you can inflict a creature with weakness, slow, bleed, and poison at the same time. You can tell what debuffs a target has by the color of their health bar.

For the people asking, I made a new dropbox file for the Ruffle Flash Player program and Protector. Sorry it took so long but I was away.

JDcompy, I think a requirement to complete the Tyrian story line is to make sure they are 100% in support of you... in the status it will say they love you... or something like that. Then there's a final story line quest. This is from memory but I'm pretty sure it's about right.

The best way to get those high skill point talents is to reset your skill points with Player memory wiper. I've done that 3 times and only need to get poison 15, and swordplay 12 & ranged 12. Unfortunately, player memory wiper not in stores, I've only looted 3 so far. I need to get 2 or 3 more to get those remaining skill talents. Other than that, only other talent I'm missing is Plainswalker.

helloevery: Having your unit selection being permanent is a feature of the entire Protector series. It is what makes the game unique. I don't think it is giong to be taken out.

I've enjoyed all of the Protector games. There is only one constant that is very annoying, for some reason many of the buttons. When they are clicked there is a high pitched squeak that is very irritating. Aside from that, they are very fun games.

the quest "Ancient Rights" has appeared twice, once as a storyline quest and at the same time as a normal quest as 2 separate quests. the normal version gives 212 gold and is from the Protectorate and the storyline gives 154 gold and is from the Hamlar faction. consider fixing if this actually matters, just thought i'd point it out <(^_^)>

I've just found a quest called 'Snakes on a plain' and the quest description is: 'Enough is Enough! I've had it with these Mudderfloppin' snakes on this mudderfloppin' plain!'

@Kingatrol: The solution is to place your units nearest the exit first. As they level up, add new units in front of them so that they all stay close to the same level.

My number one complaint: Please implement some universal way to tell whether or not a mission is completed. Each faction has its own "uncompleted" and "completed" colors, but some of them are very similar and there's no cross-faction consistency that I can tell. It makes it kind of annoying to go between each available mission and check the best ones to do at the moment.

I really like this game, but I sure wish I had more control over what heroes showed up for hire or what units they had. It would be particularly nice to be able to choose your starting heroes.

I love the protector series, the newer ones aren't bad but i kind of miss the old Protector system where you can pick an element of the "tower" on the map itself when it lvls up instead of using the element of the hero you're currently using, kind of restrictive in some ways...

Ha, just as I come back to kongregate to replay Protector IV, I find this! Brilliant, the only problem I had with the old one was wanting more quests- looking forward to playing all the new ones now!

@d_swabey: Good games get good ratings. It even states in the description this is little more than an improvement (Hence "expansion" pack). Games get expansion packs all the time, be they retail or free. Improving upon one's game gets it's rating higher and flash games are no exception. The fact is, he puts effort into his games and deserves to be treated as such. It can't be a shame when a good game wins a prize :)

Turn up the speed, chrissakes.
Also I don't see a reason why anyone would use melee when a simple bat is completely unaffected by the most powerful paladin. Ranged and magic have a huge advantage there, and melee doesn't offer anything they don't; in fact, ranged and magic -also- have a gigantic range compared to the 1 that melee gets.
So there's no type of enemy they can't hit, -and- they can hit them from further away. I repeat - why would anyone want to use melee?

lucke13- that's the point of using strategy. if an enemy absorbs the units you have later on, play as few as possible and then switch to a different element.

I just discovered that you could change the song that this game plays in maps. After playing for over 30 hours. I think this feature needs to be emphasized a little. >_>

HERO MEMORY WIPER removes all starting skill points. For example, you start with a SWORDPLAY only hero with 10 in MAGIC, and you wipe him to move those points, and he has 0 in everything and NO EXP.
Either that's a bug, or the item needs a better description.

A fine add-on, quickly done (this is indeed a medium badge). The Tyrian story line is the blue one down South (10 levels if I counted right, it says Tyrian on mission briefing screen). Keep up the good work (needs clearer world map, though)!

So, some tweaking could be nice:
1)Some typing errors could be fixed, this could make the game less wonky-looking
2)Sorting of quests, as said before
3)Some way to compare items equipped to items in inventory
4)Streamlined shopping
5)way to see total influence of the stats (i.e: Tactics improves gold saving from quests, but for how much? I want to know this
6)Maybe make mission gold calculated this way: (Total gold looted/tactics+bonuses) +payment + extra gold + bonus based on relationship, experince racked up and faction relationship.
I know that's a long one, but these minior changes could make the game much smoother

Is it supposed to be like this. im trying to play "It's good to be bad" and i always get my thiefs their full Pick pocket moves (, 20% chance to steal...). I upgrade it to 20%, then 30% then 50% then 100%, but when i get a kill, i don't get anything from the kills (except about every 4 kills). Also, i have a question. When i upgrade things like "1 bleeding damage per second" and then i get another for 3 bleeding damage, would it stack, like 1 + 3, or just be replaced by the 3?

I have just one minor detail that I think needs to be fixed; the alchemist doesn't gain any experience from the poison damage he does while mages do. Otherwise, still a great game, can't wait till protector 5

solid improvement, very nice work. hotkeys would still make it so much easier. upgrading can get tedious, especially with having to click specifically on the x. maybe just clicking on another unit would bring you to their box? or hotkeys for changing between heroes... #1-6 for placing units, one for each... things like that would make the experience much more smooth imo.

great game, wasting too much time already. what would really add to the enjoyment would be if you saw the damage in the combat text above an enemy from posion/bleed (damage over time) effects etc (-2 -2 -2 -2) while enemy is walking, not only the direct damage done. cheers
