Pretty sweet mechanics for a snake game. Adds a whole new degree of movement and detail from the old. although, the snake should, as mentioned above, follow the path traced by the mouse, not be attached to it. Other than that, short and fun game, 5/5.
Really fun! Although damage on chainsaw and sledgehammer should be improved, the whole "random city" thing works out really well! Although it would be nice to have a couple of survivors maybe choose to follow you. That actully wouldn't be too hard to code either, with a variable like survivors_following, and then have a custom condition in the onEnterFrame for new survivors like: if (survivors_following>=2) { /*code for don't follow here*/ } else { /*code for follow here*/ } . This game quite awesome and it would be nice to see further updates and maybe a second one in the future! This game engine could make a really nice base for more than just a game where you seek your daughter. I am actually jealous of the code and wish I could have it. *Hint* *Hint* :P
Also, this game needs quality options. This game gets laggy after the first few levels and the lag tends to make you walk too far, and coincidentally, into fire and to death.
The best technique for fighting the fire and getting coins at the same time is to get the fire to one block that is barely burning, then, get the coins while the fire is "down but not out" then finish it off.
To add to my previous comment, I probably won't use upgrades in the game when I upload a finished version. I might add upgrades in a second or alternative version, but I think I'ma go with an arcade type game for my first full installment.
To quell the question of one/few comment(s), I am not limiting the number of jumps. The "jump" bar is more of an aspect of my jumping algorithm(method) used to limit the jump height and smooth the transition from upwards acceleration to downwards acceleration.
Also, I'm working on adding a reload bar, although it might not actually make it into the game due to a few difficulties modifying the "shooting" algorithm to support such.
I think the intergalactic platypuses and linux penguins have formed an alliance and are both out to get us. Why else would both their names begin with P and end with S? Platypus: THEY KNOW!!! Penguin: MY COVER'S BLOWN!!
To add to my previous coment, some of the levels could use a slight difficulty reduction, Although alot of the uneasy levels are easy with some imagination and timing, a few later levels are quite impossible.
If you need more lives, go play a different game. This game is meant to be difficult and take a while to beat, and requires patience and some problem solving to actually beat it. This game is more about careful skill and clever problem-solving, this isn't just the regular platformer. This is a mind-bending puzzle game. 5/5.
I would like to see upgrades, and different levels of enemies as the game progresses, and starting out slow without upgrades and turning more slowly would help to get a better feel for the controls. Also, it needs more replayability. It's just not that interesting.
The 1st stat you should upgrade fully is the Defence stat. Upgrading it fully gives you 2 lvl ups after each level instead of 1. Also, the last few levels are easy if you have found the shop and have greed over 25, the key is to buy insta-kills and kill the really tough enemies and just attack all other enemies normally (if you have your defence upgraded fully by then), heading back to the shop to get more insta-kills every once in a while(making sure you have at least 1 regen). You can and will make a profit doing this if your greed is high enough and can use it to buy lvl-ups from the shop and upgrading your greed even more!
Ah... nm... here's the guide to the cat: Click doorknob, Click apple, Click doorknob, Click crack in wall, Click "tree branch shadow" near top right of screen, Click crack again, Click on knobs til the visitor is shot back out onto the windowsill, Click on cat, Click on doorknob.
Could someone post a guide to the cat? I clicked the door handle and when I proceeded to click the crack in the wall, it pushed me back. I clicked the crack again, same result. I went to the walkthrough and it said to "click shadow of tree branch" after clicking the crack. Any hints on where the "tree branch shadow" is? TY.
