Not only is there no offline mode, but the game doesn't even run if it isn't the active tab - both making it much harder to properly 'idly'. Aside from the complaints about 'slower' ants (namely black and sometimes red) there's also the fact that sometimes it takes obscene amounts of time for a painting to sell. Even if they've been lowered to green, I've had cases where a painting took between 10-20 minutes to actually sell. I have no idea what the purpose of 'buyers interested' means due to this. Interesting concept, the lo-fi style and the buy/sell system are nice, but unfortunately it's poorly implemented overall.
Also having the issue mentioned where the field doesn't load. To be more specific - even after refreshing and clearing cookies - I get a black screen and a grayed out HUD. I was able to access the HUD after skipping the tutorial, but everything remained black and I was unable to access anything.
Yet another game I wouldn't play but for the badges. The issue with the game isn't 'attention span'. It's the fact that most progress is quickly rendered moot, the fact that the lack of cursor lock makes it substantially more difficult, and glitches mean that the skiier can fly THROUGH THE GROUND and thus die, or it can simply glitch out and stop drawing the slopes...resulting in the same thing.
If not for the achievement, I wouldn't play this. Ultimately, even if you play it near perfectly, you'll just ultimately have the enemy move to the next age immediately after you, nulling any advantage you might have. Ultimately, if you don't lose, you'll just grind up the tower and kill all of the enemies before they get close to your base, waiting a quarter of an hour so you can spam enough super soldiers to get close to them. Unless this game was a piece on the futility of the war...it quickly devoids itself of fun.
I rescind my comment about 'only one potion'. The fact that they were the goblets of the title weren't entirely clear and I initially thought they were only one use.
A nice game, reminds me of sorcerers and serpents. However charming, this game has its obvious flaws. Firstly, it's extremely easy to click past tips and there's no way to re-read said tips. Secondly, some mechanics aren't immediately obvious (Such as poison, the clay monsters, etc.) And happen seemingly at random with no way to counteract aside from 'kill 'em faster'. Thirdly, there's no way to heal yourself outside of -I believe - a single potion, the leach ability and 2 other perks. Finally, much the same criticism as sorcerers and serpents has, there's only ONE SONG. It's charming, but grinds on the mind. A good game with good potential, but while I'm gonna power through it til the end, I hope there's more and better in the future. 3 Stars.
So...anyone else blow themself up in the first 15 seconds? When the random crate randomly blew up when you accidentally stabbed it with the tiny melee weapon they start you with?
