I want to love this game but there are so many minor issues I have with it. Like I'll combo 2 defense matches, but not gain any extra defense. Dido with counter. But any other match the effects are cumulative. Also the grid is small enough that a few times there have been only 1 or 2 matches even available and it would be a useless match but set my enemy up for a big attack but I have no other option. Or it rearranges the board because there are no other matches. With very limited options there is no real strategy. There needs to be a larger grid so there are actual options for a strategy. Also when defense is 36% it makes a match 4 or 5 somewhat underwhelming compared to other options since a 3 gives 100%. Overall the matches are not balanced compared to one another. Finally luck at what drops can give 5+ combos which completely shift the game. Horribly frustrating when the enemy gets it, and it makes matches underwhelming when you get it.
Great game. But...
I like being able to see what type of resistance a creep has, but would really like to be able to see what type of damage they do. Then I might be able to know who is gonna resist that damage and where to focus my healing rather than being reactive.
Also I was disappointed to find that the later unlocked towers only gave higher range. I'd like to see a fortified tower that increased resistance, or one that increased damage/effects.
We had problem with saved data each time when we have uploaded new game version. Now it works fine. But unfortunately you need to start new game. Sorry for that!
One thing I would have liked would be a blank square button. A couple of levels I slipped the mouse a square and rather than put to blank to erase it I had to restart it because I was over the limit.
I like the game but there should be a speed bonus for the scores. There should be big bonuses for driving off during the earliest waves since otherwise you can just sit there and kill and kill and kill for more score. So there is no point in trying to rush through. Why bother?
after the credits roll all the money you get in the last level isn't added. as much as you have to grind to get upgrades losing ~20k to that little mistake is disappointing. but the game is over so I guess it doesn't matter since there is no post-game survival mode or anything like that.
This game is riddled with bugs, requires wait times that make you sit for 3 minutes for every 30 seconds of play, and is doesn't offer any truely strong advantages unless you invest money. The game itself if is a tried and true concept so its not bad, but there are games that do the same without the aforementioned disadvantages.
I've noticed people seem to under use the mammoth turtle. A couple of tips on how to use them. Turtles at the front of the line are useless since towers target there first anyways unless there is a turtle in range. Before you acquire rainbow, place a goblin then a healer then a turtle. Towers will target the goblin till the turtle comes into range, completely skipping the healer negating the need for overlapping healers (unless there is aoe). Finally against the atomic towers place a turtle at the back of your line. The missile will hit well behind the back of your line so the damage only hits the turtle.
I'm severely disappointed in the limited number of slots available. After you start getting some serious gear points about mid-way through you end up with too many unless you specialize in just a couple skills. It makes earning medals significantly less rewarding when the gear points from them just go to waste.
I wish it were you got 1 gold for each toy saved and each upgrade cost 25 instead of 1 for perfect and costing 5. There's no reward for improvement unless you get perfect. It makes those +4s so disappointing.
I like trying out all the different race/class combos. So far my favorite is Atlantian Necromancer. The main problem is without a save feature I often have to go get myself killed because I want to try a different combination or have other things to do.
I found there are some cool cards that have iron or crystal as a resource. The problem is you need gold to play the card that gets you that resource. Then you need gold to draw that card and the card needed to get the resource. And until then you can get that card you need gold to play the fodder cards to fight the enemy. So gold plays too high of a role compared to the other resources. I also seem to end up with a ton of crystal and iron late game because I can't have too many cards requiring those resources or I'll lose early on.
I love how one of the top rated comments says "This is a good kiddie game" even though at the end it shows a guy being dragged by his... um... leaf. I love the sense of humor on kongregate.
