I can only think of one issue, really: why isn't there a way to jump? Is it even possible to get out of that middle section without being blasted out by the enemy?
More like December 1983... but it's still kinda fun. I agree about the fish though, It should always be clear what's eatable and what's not, without using trial and error. But hey, it's still OK.
If you ask me, the only thing stopping this from being the best game on Kongregate is that even the fastest character is reeeally slow compared to the enemies and their bullets. That's a big, big problem, but other than that, this game is excellent. The powerup system is awesome, the levels are awesome, the bosses are awesome, the graphics are great, and the dialogue is hilarious. Plus, I think it's great how there's no health bar and no autofire... now that's old school. But, that big, big, problem is enough to knock it down to a 4 at best. Other than that, this game is freaking perfect! All it needs is a few speedups to collect... so close and yet so far...
As much as I love the fact that someone out there actually cares enough about Moon Patrol to make this game... well, it stinks. No guns, no score, and the buggy stops moving forward in the air. But hey, I'm gonna splurge and give this one a 3 just because it's Moon Patrol. You can hang with my crew any day.
I usually like my shooters to be a lot more frantic, but in this case the slow pace isn't so bad because the rest of the game seems to be well-designed around the slowness. This game is more about memorizing the levels and trying to destroy 100% of the enemies in a level, which is actually a fairly reasonable goal in this game. The only thing that saddens me is how the ship is always autofiring throughout the game. I guess most people would say that's only logical, since almost all shooters have autofire these days anyway, but I prefer to at least be forced to go through the motions of holding a button down. ;) Anyhow, it's a pretty decent game. 4/5
