-936 points. I got stuck on the last chamber for twenty five minutes. Whoo.
Well, by operant conditioning, I will now associate all platformers with blinding fury. This will be good if I ever need to kill something.
You should probably add more enemies and more levels. Other than that, I don't really see why this is "unfinished." It looks like you're pretty much done with the engine, too.
The only major problem I had was with the vaulting. In the later bases it was easier to just run around killing stuff than actually use the base and end up accidentally vaulting everywhere. Aside from that though, this game was amazing. Excellent gameplay, with different difficulty modes, (though I wish I'd picked hard) an aresenal of weaponry, and a hint of storyline. (Which admittedly could have been expounded upon.)

I honestly can’t wait to play the next game. Though I’m a little sad about the lack of a jump command, I’m sure you’ll make it work. God knows I’d never have thought a platformer without an attack ability would interest me. “Level Up” proved me to be a total idiot.

But yeah. The only problem I really had with the game was the ending. While the storytelling cliffhanger was excellent, the game itself ended rather...anticlimactically. I mean, c'mon. We found some gems and turned on a computer. Where's the amazing final boss fight? You certainly did a good job with the "Shadow" boss. I didn’t get much of a sense of accomplishment just from finding random objects. When I beat the Shadow I felt like pumping my fist in the air.
In any case, keep up the good work. Especially with your storytelling. While I’ve seen complaints as to the anime-esque ending sequence, I personally thought it was great. The comic book style single panel switches was perfect. (I’ve seen people attempt to create actual anime sequences in games before, as in moving pictures. They made me want to turn myself inside out. Your single panel style was much better, and I certainly found it entertaining.)
This game is spectacular. It feels like Cave Story plus Oblivion. Leaning a bit more towards the Cave Story, obviously, but the level up system is both ingenious and...well...fun. Fun as hell. I haven't had this much fun with an internet game for months.
In any case, I feel you did an admirable job with the difficulty level. It began hard and eased in difficulty as you leveled up. I can see where the complaints people are making are coming from however. There are players who want to hold down the mouse button and win, and players who want to hit every key on the keyboard simultaneously, (while dangling over a pit of boiling lava,) and _lose_. A corresponding "easy" and "hard" mode might be a good idea for your next release.
BAM! I had trouble breaking 32 turns, I just made it to freaking 24!
In any case, 9/10. This game is amazing. The AI could use a little work, as I've been attacked by EVERY FREAKING NATION AT ONCE several times, but it's definitely a great game.
5/10
I was constantly presented with situations in which it was actually _impossible_ to win. (Like having too large of a jump distance and not enough speed.) Random generators should be programmed to prevent that. This one was not.
Further, there's no real plot and nothing to do except hit a button at the right time, occasionally losing anyway.
About the only thing going for this game is its graphics. Which I admit are fairly good. But graphics do not make a game.
This game was pathetically easy. And for the most part, luck based. Honestly though I just piled on the dodge and ran across any traps I saw. It was pathetic. Beat it on my first try, without even coming close to dying.
It was a bit too easy. It should be possible to continue beyond daimyo, because in the duel mode I managed to beat "Master of the Sword" with "Peasant with a stick."
So you should offer higher difficulties with better rewards. Like "Emperor" instead of "Daimyo."
In any case, I love the engine, but I don't feel the overall game gives it justice. Almost no plot, no map to give a feel of spreading territory, and a fairly moderate difficulty all the way through.
...
Basically, just add a secret boss which destroys you. Then your game will be awesome.
In any case, 5 out of 5.
This game is...okay. It has a lot of potential. But your execution is basically terrible. Try making better weapons, first of all. The only way I can even hit something with your slow-as-hell missiles is by waltzing up to it and unloading in its face. Which typically ends up getting me hurt.
Second of all...keep the enemies inside the bubbles. They keep running away. And I'm sick of waiting.
Having finally beaten the game, I have to say the cube boss is MUCH more difficult then the final boss. I beat the final boss on my first try in like twenty seconds. The cube boss I STILL can't really beat.
So yeah. You might want to either make the last boss harder, or the second boss WAY easier.
Yeah... The whole *randomely fly away from the game screen to look at the comments" thing got old fast. Especially when I was at 134k score, with half full bullet time, three quarters full health, and full rage. And then lost instantly thanks to accidently clicking slightly outside the screen and trying to use bullet time. Fail. Horrible, horrible fail. Especially as it had happened to me four times in the same playthrough, and I'd only survived through incredibly luck.
Vortex...are you kidding me? considering all the build up about not being able to survive, that was the easiest thing I've fought in like, five years. Without all the buildup, it's probably closer to four. That was actually my main problem with the game. Don't call it hard if it's pathetically easy.
*sigh*
2/5 4/10. It's playable, but only barely. The enemies do twice as much damage with their attacks, for some unknown reason, I can sit there punching a guy blocking, only for him to stop blocking suddenly and instantly hit, and usually defeat, my poor pathetic character. The only feasible way to win is to mash a single combo as fast as you possibly can, and hope to dear God you don't get hit once. Because then you pretty much die.
The only redeeming quality is the joke of the game itself. And that is funny for all of, like, ten seconds.
