If you lose that last battle you lose the game. No retrys. Not only that, but the scaling is terrible and the gameplay is worse. Click frenzy? Try lag frenzy. And while you're lagging, the enemy progresses far.
Pulse is the best gun for a large portion of this game because it shoots below you. Other guns have a hard time clearing low targets after a high ledge.
In the 40 Meter rush, you use the money you didn't spend on the main levels. You only have to get the guy across, so as long as the bridge will hold him, don't worry about tons of support beams.
This game has it's points of innovations, but some of these are overthought. Also, the external link to solve a level has never been a favored tactic of mine.
Seed a plant and sell it for some quick gold to mana conversion. (Now with refund to portion of gold.) This will allow you to speed up your levels by spamming your casts a bit quicker.
Blazern fireballs pierce, thus are really optimal to use. (The red dragon) Just get a meatshield and some of these and you can mow down the weak ones hiding in the back while smacking the front ones good.
The concept is nice, but overall there's too much failure for upgrading too quick. Accidentally hit the Upgrade Workers in the company upgrades and ended up debt .2 seconds later with no potential for a turnaround, since you can't sell anything.
