I always seem to miss gems at the start and end of each zone? The visual clutter in this game is amazing (which is a bad thing). You really don't have a lot of agency. Even the softest landings are devastating, mitigation doesn't work. Overall I don't like it but it's OK. 3/5
Most of the missions were cakewalks but leveling up and surviving was boring. Despite costing less the rate of fire upgrade tended to be stronger than the damage upgrade due to the meteors, and your ability to destroy them quickly is largely dependent on random powers rather than skill or upgrades. Why can't I move to the bottom of the screen, but enemies can? Overall, this game could use a lot of polish. It doesn't do anything new and is inferior to the MANY past shooters on Kong. 3/5
Every button is labeled GO (I'd expect the usual U-turn arrow)? Shield barrier won't hit me (typo)? The help menu is the only one affected by the scroll wheel, scrolls strangely with click/drag, and goes out of bounds. The level finish menu can pop up and accept input before it's readable. The screen transitions are a little slow. Players can move much faster by moving their cursor farther away from the player, and by comparison keyboard control feels AWFUL. I'd like to turn down the SFX instead of muting them entirely. Enemies don't shoot until level 16/25?
Hi, thanks for playing. Thanks for the comment. Some adjustments had to be made in a hurry, sorry. Some enemies shoot (red ships and green aliens), others don't (blue ships)
Level 20: Oh look, a boring stretch of nothing. Oh, some enemies. Jump... What if I jump HERE? Oh hey, I'm out of bounds. No warp pipe though... Man those 80's platformers were so much better.
Input detection works fine for me, BUT the game has weird physics (you accelerate in the air!), almost no player agency (1 action that is also contextual provides almost no interaction (you know, that thing that games are specifically good at?)), screen crunch (and by extension level memorization), and tedious designs to waste your time with uninspired platforming "challenges." This is hardly any fun; there were better platformers in the 80's. 2/5
I just got the hard badge and I can confirm it's NOT easy (duh). It's not too ridiculous though (2nd try!). Make sure to abuse the shield powerup both for killing and collecting power pods, and generate your pods in the middle of the map so they don't instantly fly off screen. Upgrade ASAP as usual for these types of games. Save powerups between rounds if possible, instead of wasting them early.
Sadly your game would probably be rated higher if it were just easier... Commenters seem to have struggled/didn't fully learn the rules (such as the fact that anything pink will kill you upon warp). What stumped ME was forgetting that I can teleport below floors. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You know I'm all about that dash, GOTTA GO FAST!... Huh, maybe I SHOULD play those Wario games. Anyway I'm not a fan of the bear's style and don't care much for metroidvanias but this is another 5/5! I only wish you could teleport between checkpoints.
@TheRealPip I found the colorblind option after reading the updates after beating the game. It didn't help with the rotating squares/gates though, which were the hardest for me to see. The colors weren't too bad anyway. Other puzzle games I just tend to give up...
Thank you!
