It's an interesting idea, but in implementation, it doesn't play really any better than a random breakout clone. Things are a little too out of control.
On Zap 2 the Past 2, I boosted straight through the first buildings (all upgrades at stage 4) and ended up glitching mid air where I had to refresh the page before I could get my car back. :-(
I liked: Enemies were often standing around. They didn't all just pop out from behind cover magically. Accuracy didn't seem to have to be pixel perfect, but was not too lenient. Animation and 3D rendering was great. Sound was great. Enemy spawn being random / some rooms being empty. I didn't like: The player should start reloading as soon as the gun is out of ammo, not as soon as the gun is out and I click again. This may seem like it wouldn't happen often, but apparently I'm a ninja at using exactly a clip. The movement was not too fast, but I was often waiting for an enemy to spawn, and then one wouldn't, then the character rushes off to the next room while I'm trying to reload. Once I know a guy won't pop out, I need time to reload. There's plenty of space to hide from the gun fire, why do I only get to a couple times? The character does do a good job of looking around corners even when there's nothing there, but looking around even more would be more realistic. Great game, overall.
I'm assuming that it must not be rendering correctly for me because this really doesn't make any sense. The menus all work fine, but the actual game play is just a motion blur then randomly confetti. 1/5 until game play looks legit.
@swords1229 Regardless of _Why_ the controls are what they are, the click controls are awkward for the game posted. Also, after I beat the boss at the end of the 5thish section, I couldn't see how to continue the game.
Bugzilla was beatable in one go. Same as trickybomb2, I used a bug repellant, 2 health packs, and 55 units of energy ammo doing a Kapow! attack every time.
When you click on the hand, it says "I'm glad the reincarny diverted to his old ways" but I think you probably meant "reverted" not "diverted". 5 minutes to beat. Too short.
Definitely the best of the series. Better level design, better power up management. I never had that "I've been everywhere. Now what do I do?" feeling like I've had at times in the others. There was always another obvious path to go back and take, and I think that's preferable here.
If you light the wood before getting the bombs, you get a journal entry talking about bombs before you even knew they existed. This guy is the best detective ever.
I like the game, but more than once I've been given an unbeatable level. Once was where the whole level was solid bricks, and there were no rescues before it that could've allowed me to break them. Another was when rescuing the princess, she was in a corner blocked that if you didn't fall the right way, you couldn't reach her. Disappointing, but overall good game.
