I liked it. 4/5. There are some ways to get around the low life thing. One, use the shields! They're integral to making it past even the first sector. Two, you and your enemies both fire from beneath the ships, meaning that you can hit the top of an enemy without being in the way of their shots. Happy hunting!
It's well-produced, but there are a few major gameplay issues. [1] The first is how little obstacles, powerups, and coins appear. More saturation of on-screen objects makes it less boring and more involved. Powerups would feel much more fun if there were more obstacles. To compensate for more coins being available, prices can be raised. [2] The powerups are never explained in game. It's awkward. [3] The shop items have no description, making it hard to tell beforehand whether or not you want them. It's also not clear what some of them accomplish. Add clear descriptions to such things and you're set. Is the laser pointer purely visual? If so, I would have liked to know beforehand that it would not effect the bullet's mobility. [4] The complete lack of any hint of plot or characterization is a little lonely. Even a brief text explaining what you're up to and why would make the game better. Overall, I feel that this is a good jumping-off point into making better games. Good luck!
At least it doesn't have false advertising. Come on guys, it maybe have bad graphics and only one level, but at least it's actually playable. Except for the thing where it kills you if you don't start properly. But at the end of the day, it's a game, and it's a good first step!
I keep using sort-of words. I try Samuel and January and stuff... when I was just about to lose the level with both the documents an inch from the end, I used up all my letters and typed out "multimillionaire" but of course it fell flat and I lost the level. augh
I would have effing LOVED to have this in elementary!! I am learning so much right now! I highly recommend this to any teachers out there who are reading this. If you're not a science teacher, tell the ones you know! This is insanely useful material for those students who can't absorb information through standard text and lecture!
OH MAN
OH HAHAHA LOL I GET IT OH GODDAMN Frickin'.. hehehe oh man this is awesome.
So the guy, Hideous, was talking to Notch on twitter in swedish, and I'm all, okay, so, google translate, what are they talking about? And Notch was all, that's a cool game, how much of it was autobiographical? And Hideous was like, none of it at all. I'd have submitted it as a parody if there was a parody section. And then Hideous was like lol and then Notch was like lol and then I was like lol
IT'S A PARODY OF DEPRESSING 8-BIT ARTY GAMES
IN THAT IT IS ONE
It's completely fake, that's the point! Oh god this is awesome. I am crying laughter tears right now
This game let me turn a defensively retarded, attack-spamming little douche named Gassymissile into the next highly respected and world-renowned leader of the known universe through patience and good, hard, honest work.
I think I'm in love. The story capabilities are quite astonishing, and it's very fun to make new characters to see what can happen. 5/5 :3
This day officially marks the first time I've ever read an entire multiple-path story. Ever. And it was definitely worth it. Getting the whole story was a little wrenching at first... I didn't want to screw up the good choices I'd made, and forcing myself to do dumb things hurt my head-- but in the end, I got the whole story, and it will probably stay with me for a long time. Anyway, 5/5. The time taken to create this was well-spent, in my opinion.
Why is it so slow? o_O I've never had that problem for any other game. It there a quality option? It keeps skipping, making it really hard to maneuver.
I'd like to see the required time left for something to cook before it's usable. Like a progress dial.
The epic music is a weird juxtaposition for something simple and cute-ish, and it gets kind of annoying and repetitive. I don't like echo-y full choirs screaming Latin at me all the time.
Anyway, aside from my complaints, obviously, I think it's a nice game and a nice time-waster. Pretty decent, really! Good job on the work you've done so far, and I look forward to the finished version!
