awesome game - i really love the fantasy map! My only suggestions are: AI difficulty adjustment and more non-Earth maps! It would be neat to have maps generated by unfolding complex polygons, designed around a solar system, the moon, the sea floor....
The other big feature I'd love to see, and I understand it may be to hard to incorporate into this type of game, is a slider to control purchases, or at least an option for the SHIFT key to buy/sell 10, 100, 1000 at a time.
I'd love to see a sequel to this. There are a lot of great suggestions here that could be included. Personally, I'd like to see achievements/scoring expanded. For instance, there could be score tracking for largest population, largest land size, shortest time to earn all (regular) achievements, etc. Also, I like the idea of opening up new land types (tundra, desert, etc.) and maybe have them each include a resource unique to that land type that is used to build a specific building. Natural disasters could be done in a similar way (e.g. tundra could have oil and blizzard; use oil to build refinery, giving all people spawned within [10*number of refineries built] tiles a car or other transportation with effect=speed*3; blizzard slows all people to 1/4 speed and completely immobilizes all vehicles on tundra for random length of time).
this game makes me want to see a new version of Infectionator...
but seriously, it DOES need a money collecting upgrade (radius, acceleration or both).
@colormonochrome: your building number will stop at 2/3 of your land. it will always maintain 1/6 of your land as unused space at each side. buy 30 more land and you get 20 more buildings, etc.
weird, it ate the middle of my last comment... should be:
where N is less than the max allowed population, set your lifespan to 180*N/X [e.g. spawn X=250/day, want N=1000 --> lifespan = 180*1000/250 = 720]
just so you all know, you don't need to keep spawning people with the spacebar if your lifespan is long enough. go into the info screen and see how many people you spawn every day ('X' people every 1 day = 3 minutes = 180 seconds) and then if you want to maintain a population of 'N' people where N lifespan = 180*1000/250 = 720]
confused: what do the different civilization type numbers mean? also, my mouse wheel won't zoom - the only way i can zoom is wait for wandering camera and the zoom sets to whatever it is when i stop the flying camera. one more thing - i know it says final version but would be really nice if gravity well increased in strength longer you hold mouse button that way you can use different length clicking to make orbital adjustments easier.
i'd like to see a little graph representing how many people there are at a given tile - would look a little like a soundwave graph with curve height changing as people move back and forth.
for anyone who is seeing a negative number for resources or population remember the game program can't handle anything bigger than about 2.15 billion (2^31) so it starts over from negative 2.15 billion if you get that high.
fun game, but needs longer/more dynamic music, more upgrades (increase speed/tempo, faster projectiles, etc.) and either a "start wave" button or longer time before first enemies appear so defenses can be placed. lots of potential here, 4/5!
