It doesn't do anything amazingly different with the concept, but it's pretty, well made, and has a mute button (something all too often missing in games) thank God! Only thing I'd say is that the ship moves about on the screen too much - if you're attempting to shoot ahead of yourself there's sometimes not enough space to lead the target. Nontheless, solid effort there, 3/5.
It's very, very well made - I didn't know you could get games to look like that in Flash, but... There's nothing fun about it! *Click* buy goods, *click* select destination, *click* wait for ship to fly itself there, *click-click-click* shoot some asteroids... It looks great, but essentially what you've got is a 'Duck Hunt' style shooter, spread out by footage of ship flying.
I don't like leaving very negative comments - I appreciate that making a game like this takes a considerable amount of Flash know-how I don't have, and I'm sure a lot of effort has been put in to this.
Having said that, the game seems fundamentally, and totally flawed. Where does the fun come from in this? You select some flowers, then watch them buzz about the screen. There's no involvement after that point bar just sitting and watching. Given you can't do anything with the flowers after they've been launched, and given you can't do anything to affect the growth rate of the flowers, the player's involvement in what's actually going on is absolutely minimal.
Whilst your game is by no means an unattractive looking one, or an unprofessionally put together one, the actual concept is very poor indeed. There is nothing fun whatsoever about it. And, please, put a mute button in.
Quite enjoyed this one. Yes, you can see the Portal influence, but only in a vague, thematic sense (and it has the good grace to keep referring to Portal, admitting its influence) and besides, there's plenty of clones of old games kicking around on this site which are much more direct replications of an original, and nobody complains about that. I don't like demo versions like this, though (“play the proper version somewhere that isn't on Kongregate!”), and it is a bit too short, which stops it getting full marks in my book. Still, 4/5.
With the timer, this would be a very good candidate for badges. Would be nice to see some for it. And please, consider putting Shift 2 on Kongregate!
Granted, it's not an original concept, but it is very well executed and pleasing to the eye.
Like many other, though, I've found that the cursor's too small to see. Also, when there's bright colours exploding all over the screen, I've found that it's difficult to make out your, uh, spaceship/character/whatever thingy too. Perhaps make it a more vibrant colour, or larger, or give it a 'glow' or something like that.
Otherwise, very well done. 4/5
Really enjoyed this one! You captured the sense of 'Robotron meets Galaga' excellently. The graphics and sounds are perfect for the atmosphere you were trying to create. Fun, fast - good effort.
5/5
Really enjoyed it! Simple, fun, involving cruelty to fluffy cartoon animals (and therefore funny). Easily my favourite out of this month's submissions.
If I could make a few suggestions, though...
Firstly, it really needs a mute button (ideally separate volume controls for sound effects and music). The music does work well with the game, but still - give us the option.
Secondly, the 'hand' graphic isn't in the same style as the rest of the game and looks a little odd. Maybe a more 'cartoony' graphic would be better?
Finally, how about putting in 'levels'? It wouldn't have to be anything much, but it would firstly offer a little respite to catch your breath and, more importantly, would allow you to vary the background a bit. Say, you could have one of Ayer's Rock, or, uh... Of one of the other landmarks you Aussies have. I just reckon that having a little variety in that would really add to it.
Nevertheless - good effort guys.
Heh! Really enjoyed this one. Like others said, it deserves a badge and some more levels - see if you can find some more, I dunno, 'abstract' ways of disorientating the players!
The web is absolutely full of poorly made Flash games exactly like this (pick angle, power, fire [X], avoiding [Y] and hitting [Z]) and none of them are any fun either. This is a pointless remake of an idea that wasn't any good the first time around. 1/5
Hghost is right, it needs;
-Mass gauge.
-Better animation (rotating planets).
-Mini-map.
-Better placing of objects (so you don't have three suns clustered together).
None of these things would be very hard to put in and would vastly improve the game, but without them it's a 2/5.
Addictive, very well made, very original, but it needs;
-Badges.
-An option to turn off the music. Whilst (uniquely amongst Flash games) the music here is actually quite appropriate, I still don't want to be forced into listening to it.
Entertaining enough, but a little simple - once you've worked out how each tool works there's no real challenge. Also - for the love of God, -please- include an option to turn the music off.
That aside, it's still a diverting and well made game. Points for originality.
Entertaining and quite well made, but the concept gets old fairly quickly. Ideally, it shouldn't be possible to 'squish' a ball and force it to respawn.
I'm sure the novelty wears off fairly quickly, but... This is genuinely hilarious. The first time you press 'Space' is a moment of absolute brilliance.
Seems to be generally quite well made, but it's too hard to determine exactly where the ball is and when it's over the plate (I think that's what it's called). If something could be done to make that clearer then I think it'd be fine.
