The total lack of any sort of healing, even between missions, prevents this game from going above 3/5. The ability to buy a single extra life for $50000 (more then you'll make by any means before dying) doesn't count.

I found it fairly easy. Since you can reallocate upgrade points at will, I kept all my upgrade points on the same gun I was using (on both sides), and switched between them as ammo/cooling levels dictated... shifting up to spending on shields and support weapons as my budget grew. Seemed somewhat anticlimactic... at the end, I had all relevant upgrades maxed, but there wasn't much of a threat by that point... my support weapons were more then capable of keeping the enemy at bay, and I had more of them then I could use. I was expecting some kind of scary rush, but I still had air support in reserve. A bit more danger would be appropriate, and foes like bosses or spawners might make things more interesting. Aside from that, it was somewhat annoying having to hold space when reallocating everything. It'd be better if you could just tap space to access/remove the upgrade screen; also, a reset upgrades button would be nice. All told, a decent defense game; 4/5.

Liked it, but the XP seemed to cap off much too soon. Boss felt anticlimactic after that last level; I was expecting a second form or something that never appeared.

For those complaining about getting stuck, know that you have only yourself to blame. If you pick a character/equipment combination that allows you to neither jump high nor destroy blocks, and then get stuck, it's your own fault. If you insist on playing such an inflexible character, then you need to be extra careful while doing so, so you don't fall into such a pit.

My main complain about this one is autofire. Not having it these days is just rude... like you're trying to hurt my finger. My annoyance at that supersedes any desire I'd have to play past level 2, irregardless of whether an autofire weapon unlocks later.

I want to like this, but in the absence of any kind of instruction or explanation, I really can't. Needs more work before playability, but there's potential here.

Your quick response does you credit! The idea of shield and cannon isn't a bad one, you just need to keep changing things up regularly to keep the game from getting stale. A variety of threats, more varied sound/graphic effects, upgradeable defenses, or any combination of the above would make this a much better game. As is, it still needs work... but the concept's sound, and you're obviously interested in improving things as per feedback. You get an extra star for listening, which puts you at 3 from me. Flesh things out more fully (call it a sequel, perhaps), and I could certainly see you hitting 4.

Fairly boring. Nothing really to recommend it or pique my interest in any way until level 2, and I only got as far as that because it came up as I was starting to write a comment. The idea of a gun on one side and a cannon on the other is decent, but you may as well start with that, rather then bugging everyone with a giant monotonous wave of asteroids. Given that the next wave is much the same, and there's no sign of anything beyond that, it's really not worth my time to dig further.

Cannot connect, even after several attempts. There's probably a game here, but if I can't play it, I can't rate it anything but 1/5.

Minor complaint: on the fourth level, the kickers at the bottom start disabled (thus leaving a defenseless gutter, unique among the stages). Given that, by the layout of the stage, it's quite easy to unintentionally shoot the ball down onto the left kicker, this is a bad thing. I suppose that's two bad things, really, given that both feel like bad design; but the combination is particularly annoying. Aside from that, it's pretty good, especially in comparison with the lackluster options flash pinball currently has... I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. I particularly liked the bonus chest on the third stage; more ministages like that would be awesome.

One small complaint... taking a hit while armored should not prevent you from scoring 'Flawless' on a level. Otherwise, armor is useless to the perfectionist, which seems counter-intuitive.

Shopping is not explained anywhere in-game... but even if the instructions are correct, it doesn't seem to be implemented, since the asdf keys appear to do nothing, even with large amounts of gold in-stock. Lack of autofire is inexcusable. Maybe it's implemented on some higher level or something, but this one isn't interesting enough to be worth the effort of checking.

This is... very bad. The instructions are poorly explained, to the point where it's not at all obvious what you're supposed to be doing. Gameplay felt very clunky. The music is annoying, the fonts are particularly aggravating, and combat doesn't seem to be anything other then a repetitive click-fest... randomly ending in death, as you don't seem to have a weapon capable of inflicting damage. Also, doesn't appear to have any new or interesting mechanic to balance the suck... so as the game is utterly without any redeeming features, I rate it 1/5

Okay, but doesn't really offer any notable improvement over the much older Defend the Castle. In fact, it's a little worse, since there's no way to repair your wall. The whole thing felt pretty disappointing, all told. 3/5

Dnevill has a good, if somewhat flawed, analysis. Range differences mean more then just the extra hits you get for upgrades... simple DPS/cost comparisons forget that a laser tower has a lot more seconds to work with then an autocannon. Assuming full upgrades, as autocannon has a range of 1 square, the heavy turret has 2, the missile launcher has 4, and the laser has 6. You want different towers in different spaces; autocannons on corners/intersections, heavy towers where you can make use of their double range, and laser towers in the center where they can hit most of the path. Missile launcher is worst, for DPS efficiency and shots that have to move to hit; less DPS efficiency then an upgraded laser is inexcusable, since the laser has more range. Of course, if the missile turret did splash damage, you wouldn't care about it's generally mediocre stats, since you're hitting groups with it. All said, reasonable 'beta' version; a big of balance-tuning would make this much better. 3/5

Not particularly impressed. There are some perfectly legitimate complaints out there, and the problems behind them don't just go away because you mock them. There's good reasons to complain about stuff like, say, the lack of a mute button... and where those complaints are justified, they should certainly be leveled. Complaining about the complaints itself isn't especially meaningful... although, come to think of it, here I am complaining about complaining about complaints... so yeah. Also, 1/5

Bug: it's possible to get caught on terrain sometimes, getting stuck. You can save and reload to escape, but you lose all your potions that way.
