Nooo! I want more! :P I really hope you expand on this, I'm a sucker for horror games with these kind of graphics and you gave the feel of the style very well. If this wasn't titled because you're struggling to think of something, why not simply 'The Grand Grimoire' ? Doesn't reveal anything and if this is the beginning of something larger, you can always add 'Chapter X' or 'Prelude' etc. I hope this becomes as involved as series like The Last Door, The Chzo Mythos games (Yahtzee Croshaw) etc. Good luck! :D
Thanks. It's actually the start of a large point & click idea I started on, but gave up on because it was becoming too large for one person. This was an experiment where I tried to distill the idea into its most simplified form, but this is just the very start. I didn't give thee title much thought as this was just an experiment.
I am planning a sequel, and there's going to be more to than just picking items and using them somewhere else.
Really enjoying it so far, would like to see an export save feature if an online one isn't going to be available. You'd minimise failed save complaints that way, and it would be reassuring for new players such as myself. Given the 'building up' nature of this game and being able to tinker with different characters, I probably wouldn't start again if I happened to lose my save. Good luck with it all, seems pretty solid so far and it's always good to see a dev who responds to players like you have been :)
Please implement an offline-save feature (if it isn't already lined up for next patch), so that if something goes awry that's out of everyone's control we'll at least have that backup. It's implemented in most idlers now and new idles should really be being uploaded with them to be honest. Good luck and thanks for what you've done so far :)
Not a fan of typical maze games so I usually scroll past, but there was just 'something' about this I couldn't put my finger on that made me want to give it a try. Not only was I not disappointed, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just love the quirky feel and atmosphere, but there's this 'something else' to it that you just feel in your gut knowing you've played something you'll back on fondly. I really hope to see more from you in the future!
The rune's hitboxes/responsiveness needs a lot of work, having to click the same rune sometimes upwards of 3 times in various different places on the rune just to get it to become switch-able is very frustrating, but can make some parts unplayable in a game where time is against you. I would love to play it more if it gets fixed, though :) Nice music choice.
That's very interesting to hear. I don't think I encountered anything like this in testing. I'm not sure it's a problem with the rune's hitbox, since the entire icon should be clickable. Maybe it's a timing issue with the game speed or something. I appreciate the feedback! I'll noodle around with it and see what I can find.
It seems interesting but I wish there was an option for a checkpoint system, having to start from the beginning due to a mis-click is really frustrating. Good atmosphere so far, though :)
I had the spinning circle issue, so I tried reloading and got the same issue. Tried re-loading again and tried clicking 'play' from the level-select menu instead of the level I waned to play, and the game worked fine then. I tried refreshing again and clicking the level directly just to test if it would work after a correct attempt, but got the spinning issue again. It seems the only way to get it to work is to press 'play' on the level-select screen (Don't know if it will work for others)
Save issues in Chrome also. Just lost a lvl 17 char after a browser refresh. If I save in-game and go to the menu, I can load the character no problem, refresh the page I can load no problem, but when the browser needs to restart all progress and Achievements are lost. (This is the only game I'm having this issue with, I haven't cleared cookies or anything) Hope you can get it fixed, I had this happen around when it first came out and thought the update meant it was fixed. If you can't maybe look into adding an export feature or something? I have no idea about game making. Good luck!
Just a heads up that the screen is too short (including in cinematic mode) to be able to read everything. To scroll to read the top of the comic clips the bottom text and hides the 'next' button, and vice-versa. Would love to play this if it gets fixed :) Art style looks interesting and premise sounds intriguing.
That was a lot of fun, nice work :) I particularly enjoyed the game description and mission briefings. I wish there was a way to re-read them via the menu as most of them were pure gold x'D
Thanks! I'll try to add the ability to go back and re-read the mission briefings. You can replay the levels through the world map screen (just not re-read the briefings).
I think it would take me a lot to get bored of spam-clicking *BURP* on Isaac x'D (Thanks for another great game. I loved the length of this one in comparison to your more recent games. Felt more like old times :) The plot and puzzles felt far more involved and intuitive as well. Good to see the team back :) )
Please don't stop now, I love your games! If it makes you feel any better, look at some of the shit VasantJ gets on their games (usually when they get badged) But they continued and we still have their great games to look forward to as well :) Please give it some time. I know how defeating it can feel when people immediately shit on something you've worked long and hard on when you've only just shared it. The difference is, you have something worth doing! :D Gentle flow to you, sibling ;) :)
Brilliant game, loved the humour, story, puzzles and mechanics. The checkpoint system and optional goals for each level were a nice touch. 5/5 :) Just realised you're the same Dev who created 'Unstable', which was another 5/5 game. Hope to see more gems from you, good luck!
I nearly didn't click this game as I was unsure of the title and thumbnail (you have to do a lot of mental filtering when browsing newest games here :p) but for some reason my gut told me I should and 'if it's a troll game just move on' It gripped me from the start and I was on the edge of my seat 'til the end, and when it finished I had the chills, that was incredible! Every last detail and flourish of text 'movement' built a little world for you to get sucked in to. The writing and pacing was so good my mind went 'stop trying to guess what happens and just experience the mystery' Bravo! :D
@ZBlip - Thanks for the reply :) And increasing the mistakes won't help that when you're going for 100% no mistakes, which is why a mis-click towards the end can be so frustrating when you have to force fail. I'd rather have a reset button where I can just go 'I don't want any mistakes, start over for a clean slate'
Another great game, I loved Mine of Sight so was excited to see this :) The explanations are MUCH better, I picked up most of it from the previous game but tips like 'only the best for the king' really stick them in your mind. One thing I'd really like (assuming it's not already there and I can't find it) is a restart level button, I hate making a mis-click and having to 'force lose' to get a blank field, as sometimes re-entering the level even after completion remembers your last move and simply says 'solved' when you go to click. Apart from that, 5/5, please keep doing what you're doing :)
