@Naud1234: Actually, I think it's weird this isn't an idle game. The Kongpanion this week is Clicker the computer mouse which has as flavor text, "Idling all of the day, and some of the night.", so I was expecting all 7 BotDs this week to be clicker games.
I was able to get the Badge of the Day (BotD) "Beginner Monster Badge" so the badge being recognized may have been fixed for those who were having trouble earlier getting the BotD.
Tropical Apprentice Badge BotD can be won in 5 minutes. Just do this: Follow the tutorial and ONLY merge the 3 hay pods needed for the tutorial; do not merge anymore of those. Keep following the tutorial after that, and keep cutting the weeds away to get more hay pods. Then place them on the first section of land in empty spots or swap them with other items.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO MERGE BY DRAGGING THEM ONTO OTHER HAY PODS. You should get close to 20 of them side-by-side, and THEN you merge them together, and congratulations, you have the BotD! If you mess up and merge them too early though... well, you can try logging in every few hours to spawn oranges, and then merge them, but it will probably take you too long to get 17 of them together before the BotD changes...
This game took longer too download than it took to get the Easy (make 100 kills) badge that is Badge of the Day. To get it quickly, just choose Local Play from the top, select Free-For-All, Bot Skill: Easy, Bot Race: Humans Only, Respawn Time: 1 second, and so on changing the setting to make everything easy. Then make sure you choose a small map with a bunch of bots, and you'll be able to get kills VERY quickly.
@daexion: Forced prompts when beginning a game are fine, and they stop after you beat 5 stages. What I find annoying is that there is a "Beginner Pack" which disappears 24 hours after you start playing. I would really like to not have games which pop-up asking you to buy things to NOT be a Badge of the Day.
Assuming you don't use a walkthrough, Naud1234 is correct that it can take awhile to beat. I wouldn't say 1.5 hours, but unlike the first few puzzles which can be beaten in less than 10 seconds, the last few puzzles can take you 5-10 minutes to think through them.
@willianllll: If you select "Cloud Save" from the bottom bar, sign in to Kongregate, and then select "Load from Cloud" you should get your progress back. Otherwise, you need to have saved your Export Save last time you played, and then input that code into "Import Save".
I got all 3 badges on Jan 28, 2012, so 11 years ago for me. I wish though I didn't have to start from the base speed for all new players though every time the game server resets people's progress...
@AggelosM57: At first it may seem like there is no way to win without guessing, but there is. The first hard one is Level 13, but once you realize that the tiles and hint blocks are all symmetrical, by logic that means that the the tiles with mines and the one tile in each row that is safe is also symmetrical. SPOILER FOR LEVEL 13: By just trying in your mind which one of the 6 tiles is safe for all 4 rows, you'll see that the only way for the puzzle to work is if the 3rd tile from the #5 green eye in each row (which also happens to be the tile in each row that is between 2 of the #1 yellow squares in each row) has to be the safe tile in each row, and the remaining 5 in each row have to be mines.
@KingWolf500: The game actually mentions on Level 9 at the top, "You can click on a hint tile if you forget how it works.", though it is unclear from just that WHY you would click on a hint tile if you forget how it works until you do so. When you do click on one a description of the hint tile will appear on the bottom of the screen and say things such as "Number of mines in the 4 surrounding tiles." if you click on the yellow square hint tile, or "Number of mines in line of sight, this row and column. Blocked by walls." if you click on the green eye hint tile (looks like a green oval with a dot in the center.)
@Naud1234: I don't know how you got 3 times the bonus experience, but yes, we do get 5 points for the easy badge and 2 x 15 points for the medium badge since the medium badge is the BotD. Then again, I'm Lv. 75 which is max level on Kongregate so points no longer matter to me. : )
It needs to have a level selection after beating the game. If you want to replay a certain level, you have to refresh the webpage and start over from the 1st level. Other than that, great game.
Second, if I remember right only 3 levels required me to start another rhombus to move while another was already moving, and even then I had a few seconds to start the second one, so if you're trying to quickly click on different rhombuses to beat a level then you're trying to beat it the wrong way. Finally, the gates that flip open/close should be viewed as a hint on how to beat the level rather than a hinderment in most cases. Especially when there are 10+ rhombuses, the gates will give you an idea on what order to start the rhombuses to beat the level. I hope the tips help!
Some tips for beating the game without resorting to a walkthrough (especially since levels 26-35 don't have the in-game hint option, though you don't even need to beat those to get the badge since the badge only requires beating the first 25 levels.) First, take a screenshot of each level, paste it in a picture editor (such as Paint), label each rhombus with letters, and simply write down that rhombus A needs to move before Rhombus B, B needs to move before C, etc. No stage has more than 12 rhombuses, so technically you can just memorize the steps, but writing it out makes it much easier.
I don't know why... but when you start level 33 the number 33 pop-up right of center while for every single other level the level number appears directly in the middle. This becomes obvious by beating all the levels and then clicking the right arrow to quickly go through all the levels, where you will notice that 1-32 and 34-35 appear in the center while 33 appears slightly to the right. Just something my OCD noticed.
After closing and reopening my browser still nothing. I then left the game up for about 5 minutes and the box where the game should be finally showed a loading screen and I can play it now. Maybe the server is overloaded from too many people trying to get the BotD so it is taking a long time for the game to load?
I usually prefer games with storylines, but sometimes you have a game that doesn't need a backstory. Just a simple, easy-to-understand, but not-easy-to-beat-without-some-thinking game.
