Having to press X after EVERY jump is really obnoxious. I get that you want to highlight your clever optical illusion, but it's really impeding my enjoyment of an otherwise great puzzle platformer.
90% of the difficulty of this game comes not from the actual difficulty of the obstacles, but with quarreling with the floaty controls. I can't find this enjoyable.
Secondarily, I think the pulse gun is the best weapon in the game. I have to actively try to avoid getting the gatling gun because of how stark a downgrade it is, and the acid gun is something of a joke with how inconsistent it's firing pattern is.
The leveling system is a bit unwell in its implementation. Example: I reached stage three before unlocking ANY of the stage 2 challenges. If your quests were not picked three at a time, it would make for a more natural leveling curve that would focus less on time played and more on run longevity and skill. As it is, I can't imagine ever seeing the final weapon.
Love this game quite a bit. My only complaint thusfar is that I die every time I so much as look at a cog sideways. They can be stationary, completely inert, and I die instantly if I touch them.
Sure, the trophy reward doesn't change, but you do earn a ton more cash due to how many more bloons can be popped on the upper levels. It's definitely a grind and grow game, but as you get into world 3 especially it picks up nicely.
Okay, my comment was cut off with no indication to me that it would be. Neat. Long story short, make the game feel more controllable. I won not because of my own strategy and management, but because I got lucky. Few attacks, more than a few wealthy nomads. The game LET me win.
I don't much care for the random elements of the game. I had one run totally neutered by an ice age which lasted from the third turn until about turn 30. I've been attacked by cannibals two turns in a row with >5% threat, and never attacked while keeping myself at t feel quite so cheated by an otherwise solid game.
I swear that I am just taking damage randomly. I start a level, kill an enemy, then just start taking damage from nothing at all, very quickly dying in the process.
Protip: do not click the "upgrade" button from the fight screen. It will cause your game to do weird things. Or, better yet, do click that button. It causes the game to do weird things.
There are so many useless towers in this game. The Grunt is the best/only anti-air unit you need. The flamethrower is the only best/only ground killer, and the waste cannon is the best/only slowing tower. Every other tower I researched and tried to use paled in comparison to these three.
As has been said, the scoring does not make sense for the type of game. Click-based scoring works for puzzles where each click represents a move, and each move changes the board state e.g. block-sliding puzzles. For this sort of game, a more accurate scoring template would be timer-based.
At first I hated the fact that lines overwrote each other, but if you're looking for a logic AND accuracy puzzle, it makes sense. You might consider telling the player that at some point, however.
Also, the damage on the higher-level upgrades for the starting weapon are misrepresented. There is no way it's doing 108 damage per shot at the highest level.
