@AkiraAgnar Therefore a spin off. Maybe he will miraculously decide to finish Mardek one day, but a spin off about something else in the story (say Enki or Deugan or something) would still be theoretically viable.
@Too_ManyCats: I applaud you for this, but then again in a way no one can truly finish the game, it is best left like this. What I WOULD suggest is trying to work with Pseudo to try to make a spin-off, unless he already finished the planned games script. You could probably try to make one about Deugan's travels between 2 and 3. Or maybe Enki (Mardek's father) before he settled down. Of course, it would be best to make it based on a script Pseudo made lest it become a butchered mess of a fanfic which adds in some more gameplay but really doesn't carry enough of the game's true spirit (ever played FFIV the After Years?). Either way, I'd be happy to help and give ideas. You also might want to look at the Figverse wiki (the Mardek wiki) and see if you can get the remains of the community on there to help you contact him. Best of luck, I hope you succeed.
I can't actually tell if the pulsing on the title screen is supposed to be the soundtrack's symbol or Vadim's brain getting electricity for the first time.
My sole issue is that it must be completed in one go. While I understand that if you die you have to restart, but what if there is an outage? Though not necessary, save files would definitely be nice. Great game otherwise, an interesting concept with a well done execution, not to mention a brilliant blend of nostalgia and modernity.
You know, normally, when people see they are about to crash into a car, they slow down or stop. I'm not losing levels (just) because I am bad at this, but because these people lack common sense.
TIPS: Combo bombs for best effect. I use Fire on the Red Demon (seen with Skelly), and a combo of Ice>Bomb>Special to sweep the floor using Melee. Remember that Spearmen and Knight have a "rush" special while Mage shoot lasers. This ranged attack makes Mage best for the Red Path because otherwise Laser Demons will kill your troops. Skelly should be dealt with by Knights who can tank the RDemon explosions. Orcs can go with Spearmen because rush. For the first several stages, level up your troops by having 1 unit per path. This stops the temples from being destroyed letting you grind cash and levels; when you want to get rid of the temples do bottom>top>middle. Bertha is basically a big Push Bomb. Don't have random groups headed to the frontlines use their special, do it when they cluster. This lets the Melee units rush the foes and Mages can extinguish hordes. Focus on a certain area of the battles, but support the other sections. All bonuses help but Mana should be left for last.
"Hell hath no fury like someone who has demolished a castle perfectly with absolutely no civilian casualties, then watches as a single shard of stone falls down next to them and tips them over"
To do list: 1. make set of contraptions that will destroy any individual who enters without them enhancing their physical prowess. 2. Make coins randomly appear within the jumping height of the player.
A quick suggestion: after you finish the paid game, prehaps you could make occasional "legacy updates" to the free version. These are mostly just quality of life things like fixing some bugs that aren't noticed until later, or adding in alternative recipes that exist in the paid version. And maybe an update or two of stuff from the paid version. Overall, the paid version would have much more but adding in a few details into the free version after the fact might help keep the game going and feeling fresh...who am I kidding, this thing is so good it's going to be halfway immortal. Like EBF or KR, even starting a new playthrough feels fun for a long, long time.
I will continue to update the free version with any bugfixes, recipes or updates that affect the beginning of the game (the content of the free version). And yeah, this game can just keep getting better, I have tons of ideas for it :P .
So we now have a miner, a man experimenting in thaumaturgy, a thief who ended up running a portion of a business, and a high grade scientist who also is a hunter because of the situation he was thrown into. I think we have enough to build FF6...or at least Sun and Moon.
This is a game about wondering why bullets are stopped by a door but not a staircase. This is a game about dealing with stabbity urges Black Mage style and then being told "nice shooting". This a game about dying not because you were taken by surprise, but rather because you forgot to close the door. This is a game about shooting someone thrice in the heart and groin but nothing happens. A game about wondering why gangsters don't have soundproofing. A game about wishing for a dual wielded shotgun and getting wings. A game about being hit with a blast of bullets and living, but having difficulty with a flyswatter. A game about eating bananas and soaring in the sky. A game about restarting 12 times until you open the door without grabbing a medipack. A game about wondering when a bannanarang will be available. A game about taking the red AND blue pill, then drinking banana root beer. A game about spinning through the air and having all the bullets miss becausewaitnothatsashotgunwhoops.
