This is the best tower defense on Kongregate and probably the best tower defense ever. I only wish that the UI were a little more integrated. If I want to compare a hero for hire to the heroes I already have, I need to leave the tavern and open a new menu. Similarly I can't sell magic items from the hero screen -- I have to close it and go to the shop screen. I can't even SEE my magic items until I click on a hero. The tabs on the left-hand side should behave like TABS, which is to say I should be able to jump from screen to screen so I can manage my heroes and items easily. But that's a quibble in what is otherwise a fantastic game. Love this series!
It's got potential but it's way too glitchy to be fun. It won't let me progress to level 3 even though I've played through level 2 half a dozen times (earning plenty of blood each time, to the tune of 9 litres). The controls are slow and jerky. And I want to be able to turn the music off without turning off the sounds. But the graphics are cute, especially at the upgrade screen (more variety in human types would be nice though).
The philosophical questions and dominoes-Othello-hybrid game-thing don't QUITE make up for the fact that as a platformer this is pretty bad. I think the character I made is cute, which is why it's so painful to watch her fall into spikes 4,000 times in a row because I didn't hit Space in the pixel you wanted me to.
I love it! Clever and funny with a lot of personality. I like the multiple endings and the random events. Normal difficulty was a bit too easy for me but that's OK. More more!
Maybe I would have liked this if I were a twelve-year-old boy, but I'm not. It's boring and juvenile and the tedious cutscenes go on FOREVER and I can't even be bothered to get the bonus badge for today.
Oh, what a lovely game. I'm glad I didn't spoil myself for any of it by reading the comments, because discovering it brought so many tiny joys with it as the landscape changed. And I'm amazed that you made the map so interesting to navigate without ever making it frustrating or confusing. The use of arrows was subtle and brilliant. Please make more!
Super cute game with addictive gameplay and great music. But there are a few things that annoy me about it. a) I hate (and everybody commenting seems to hate) the random evolution. Let us evolve HOW WE LIKE. I think it'd be especially great if there were 'combination' evolves that were plant/metal, metal/beast etc. along with pure plant, metal, beast. b) Why is deleting save games so easy? Why is the button for deleting games EXACTLY where the "OK" button is on every other screen ever?! c) Luck is useless. All it gets you is more of the same stuff you'd get if you just played again. Special items in the boxes would be great. d) There should be an achievement for spending huge amounts of time in the air!
The game is OK, but I really don't like the controls. If I have a weapon equipped, then I think it's safe to assume that I like that weapon and DON'T want to replace it (read: lose it forever and ever the instant I hit Up accidentally). Also, is there anything to buy besides rope ladders? What a weird economy! I'd rather have an inventory of ammo/ladders/health kits that I can save up and use when I need them, and then use cash for something more interesting (customized outfits maybe?). I also hate the instant zombie refresh -- there's no break or reward for clearing out an area. On the positive side, I really like the e-mail messages that auto-search areas for you.
I would have given this 5/5 if I could PLAY it, because the gameplay is wonderful and amazing. But you've locked away so much content that what's left is 3/5. :(
I got about halfway through world 2 and gave the game 4/5 -- it was simplistic but cute. Then I went on to play the rest of the game and realized that it was EXACTLY THE SAME as the first half -- no new monsters, no new animations, no new powers, my level eternally frozen at 5. It's glitchy, too, and I hate the double-jump animation. So I've changed my grade to 3/5. The game is OK but it feels half-finished.
I love the concept behind this game, but the execution is really annoying. There isn't enough of a distinction between the energy blob things that you're supposed to pick up and the gate that you go through at the end -- are there no COLOURS in the future? Or other SHAPES? Also, I hate that "time expired" message more than anything, not least because I have no blessed clue when I'm going to be nailed for some random time limit that the level decides to give me halfway through for no reason whatsoever. Polish this game a bit and it'll be 5/5, but right now it's too frustrating to love with all my heart.
I liked the first one a lot better. I hate the platforms (no surface to land on? wtf? you're just sailing around the screen randomly) and I can never successfully "launch" someone or do a combo move. I think simpler might be better in this case.
You know, given that the geese appear to be invincible before joining your flock, it seems the most ethical thing to do is just leave them alone! Still, cute game.
This game was fun but felt unfinished. Like, the graphics don't even change when you finish a mission -- you're still driving in the middle of the highway. The point system felt pretty arbitrary and the weapons were awful. But I'm giving it a 3/5 just because I loved Spy Hunter so much back in the day.
I like it, but the controls annoy me. Sometimes it shoots a nearby monster when I want to eat it, and vice versa. Those attacks should have different keys.
