There needs to be a better way to play user-generated content. For example, without going back to the map I should be able to advance (either from the victory screen or a "give up" screen) directly to a new randomly-chosen map (perhaps filtering out low-rated ones) as well as rate the current one in-game.
I agree with the others. The music, artwork, and basic gameplay appear intended to relax and calm. But it's actually very stressful. The longer you play the worse it gets, not because of inherent difficulty, but because it's too hard to catch the bombs with your pointer, and the constant attempt generates a lot of wrist fatigue. A better solution would be larger grabbing area that snatches the bomb to center of pointer, or automatic deflection again with a wider radius of pointer contact.
Background needs some texture so you can get a sense of where you're going and how fast. Otherwise, you're pretty much playing a 1-inch screen (the minimap) and the other 95% of the screen is useless.
No, superdave, we're not hacking. The game is just poorly designed. Once you build a second layer of support buildings, towers, and walls, the enemies stop doing damange. It appears they're trying to reach the first layer. On top of that, the units never go past level 50 except for the one standalone unit, and I've not seen him past level 127 (but I've not seen him at all in a few days, either).
If you make it to about 100 waves, you don't even need to be present anymore...just leave the game running. To reach wave 1000 I've left the game running since last Thursday evening--that's 4 1/2 days.
With fully upgraded thrusters, get to maximum speed in one direction, then leave. Come back home 9 hrs later and you'll probably still be in air with a new record.
I gets pointless quickly. With less than 10% of the total upgrades, you can pretty much stay up for ever, and work your way as high as you've the patience to go.
The game stutters a lot and misses input because of it...despite using less than 5% CPU. This gets frustrating quickly, even though the game itself isn't difficult.
Vector Effect is way better than this. Instead of just getting swarmed by bright flashes, and scrambling for the stupid pips you can actually play methodically...and you can actually tell in the heat of battle the difference between intrinsically different things like enemies and friendly bullets.
