I play A LOT of point and click games, but this one was just... perfectly balanced.. the way the game induces the player to discover it's way of functioning, the surrealism, the forth and back in the rooms... 5/5 + favorite.
Pros - good atmosphere, storyline, voice acting and drawings. Each sound doesn't trigger more than once. Music is not annoying.
Cons - pixel hunt, robot refusing to obey ("I don't want to" or "I won't", instead of "I can't" makes the player less in control, important to game experience), number reflection would make the mirror puzzle more interesting, a crowbar makes the player want to crack everything open, perhaps it's not a good idea if there's only one specific crate we can use it on. Also, try to avoid dead ends by adding messages like "We are done in here already" when the player clicks something in a room with nothing else to offer (present and future) or the opposite, "I don't think this is all" to make a player stay in the room and always find the items, making the game more linear.
Overall - 5/5 because this game has potential and I want to see it evolve into a better sequel.
if you are running in a direction and instantly change to the opposite, the character stops for like 1 second before start running again. It's very, very annoying.
Tip for level 21: Each piece remains in place for a different amount of time. Find out which order you must follow, from the one that lasts longer to the one that comes back faster.
After I got to level 12, I can say this game has potential, but the most frustrating part is the end of a level: only 2 colors left, impossible to lose and yet so difficult to win. You can't make wrong calls, it must be a very fast and precise sequence. This should be changed, since there's no way a player could lose at the end, so it should be easier to go straight to the next level. Also, the balls should appear with their final color already, the animation is confusing and the half second you waste waiting for the color to appear is crucial at later levels.
A good combat system, AWESOME music and good replay value even having only a few types of enemies. Campaign on normal is just the right difficulty, but to get the challenges / diamond it gets a little "find the perfect moves", and this combined to the randomness of enemy type in spawns, gets pretty difficult. i also think the acid pools should remain only during the next player turn, it gets frustrating trying to get through a corridor when every turn new explosive / glue aliens pop up. At last, I don't understand the safe area next to an alien movement... I thought the green areas (which the explosive aliens don't have and I also don't know why) were safe, but I once or twice got attacked being in them, so I think this whole thing should me better explained. Overall, 5/5
UPDATE: After realoding the page, The "play" bug continued, I clicked 3 times and then it worked. I didn't have to turn off any adblockers in order to solve this. So once again, it's DEFINITELY the game.
So, I can play every other game on Kongregate, this one I can't, and you say the problem is with MY adblocker? I'm sorry sir, the problem is with YOUR programming.
Other games like this one: Gorky 17 (aka Odium), XCOM, Dofus, Final Fantasy Tactics, Fallout Tactics, Magic: The Gathering Tactics. Here on Kong there are a few like XenoSquad, Flagstaff and King's Bounty: Legions. enjoy :)
I didn't check out Forgotten Dungeon 2, but this one needs a lot of improvement... I basically ran through the first floor of the dragon, mage and vampire stages, and fought them by attracting them to behind the stairs. Died a lot, and every time I did, I got full mana and life to continue hitting them...
Awesome game concept idea, has a nice difficulty curve but never gets too hard. I only complain about the lack of "total number of levels" information.
To make my point about Road Points clearer: Most games with a point upgrade system have either an item or special thing that you buy for a single use (may be bought multiple times) or something to upgrade endlessly. It is called "point (or money) sink". This way the player will always have something to spend his points or money with. The lack of such feature in this low-upgrade game is absolutely disturbing.
Road Points must have another application other than just these few upgrades. I am currently going to Brighton Square, what I believe is the last phase, and I have 3040 RP unspent. This is the kind of flaw I don't expect to see in a highly rated game like this one.
