Short, fun and moody. Exactly the best outcome of a time-limited game competition. I love the way the sounds of the stars in the dream are actually the alarm clock. Misinterpretation of reality inside the dream is something we all eventually do :) 5/5
Interesting and fun little plot, ties with Ray and Cooper's first game as well as Paul Maxstrong. Cool music, cool voice acting. Of course it has aaaall the irrationalities we always see around Point & Click games, but they can easily be surpassed, specially in a "caricaturish" game like this. The only sins are the Lab which remains unused for most of the game - the guy foresaw that I would need a screwdriver and then never helped me again, ever - and the fireworks on the pizzeria which really was all about of trial and error. Conclusion, a fun game that goes easy. 4/5
Review: A nice arcade-based beat'em up. I like the different quests, upgrade system is okay and the achievements' rewards are nice. I have things to complain, though. First: money curve is somewhat hard, creating much more grinding than expected. The AI is poor and must be heavily upgraded for their solo quests. Without the "auto-pause when out of focus" feature, you could grind on the AI quests while multitask, but it's not the case. At last, achievements that are luck dependent should not exist. They are made to rewards things the players do on their own, "being lucky" is not something to be proud of. I won't replay levels hunting for ghosts only to maybe acquire the missing items. I just convince myself, as an accomplisher, that this is bs and move on. There's still this incompleteness though... Well.. Too bad. A game that is very promising and has nice features and a fun gameplay, but as "the devil is in the details", fails to successfully deliver a complete enjoyable experience.
I love the auto-attack and the fact that you don't need to compare endless types of items, just upgrade your status straight-forward. I don't usually like this RPG games but this one I really enjoyed.
I was relieved after realizing there wouldn't be a boss battle at the end, when my stamina was almost gone :) Issues: After you get fast launches, you grab just a few coins due to extreme speed. I didn't feel a good sense of improvement through the upgrades, their effects could be better... One of the achievements was really boring to get - Ski Ride. I had to keep going in endless mode, and there was a chance that the first power up would be titan. In this case, I had to dodge the power up otherwise I would would cover too much ground and end up confronting a boss. Actually the achievements left after you beat the game are always boring. Sine there is no money sink in this game, would be nice to be able to buy the rest of the achievements once you beat the game.
I could only beat this game following lightningz71's advices. Good job, bro! About the game: At least for me, lagged a lot. Games of this kind tend to be easier when you play all maxed highest-tier-possible vehicles, but this game requires some specific combinations in order to be beatable, which I think is flawed. Other thing is, you can easily skip to tier 5 cars just by saving money, perhaps something could incentive the players to max all cars (achievements?) but I like that only a few cars are locked instead of having a rigid order in which you can buy stuff. fun, but laggy and lack of perfect gameplay / upgrade system. 3/5
Really fun but kind of luck dependent, sometimes you simply cannot eliminate skulls, other times you kill 2 in one turn and it makes thinks easier. Would be nice if you could target specific units, sometimes a huge blow is wasted in a creature with only 1 or 2 life left. The thing about Esther being targeted is not annoying in my opinion. Keeps the game challenging and makes sense, put yourself in the enemies position: you would also target one and try to kill asap instead of just spreading damage.
I don't like the fact that when you beat the game, you must restart completely. Not knowing that, I didn't fully upgrade, and now to get all achievements I need to play everything again from zero. would be a 5/5 if not by this awful detail.
Tip: never upgrade any car other than the 4th. You can beat almost every level and get 3 stars without upgrading. Change your current car to a better one as soon as you unlock it (by beating levels 5, 10 and 15). If you are having trouble on a level, just buy speed x 2, it's very effective and cheaper than upgrading your car to the max. It's a fun little game, but this upgrade system could be rethinked. I personally don't like spending money on something that I'll leave behind really soon. And of course, as mentioned several times in here, "The rubberband force is strong with this one".
Gameplay is nice, graphics keep the fun going, upgrades are balanced. Needs to fix some bugs. I would prefer if your progress was saved in stages so you wouldn't need to play it form the beginning of the stage every time you die. Idea: a "focus" configuration that auto locks on closest target then keep it targeted until it dies. If you press a certain key (like space), your fighter would focus on the closest target again and keep it aimed. Another key could turn this "focus" feature on/off during the game.
Increase DURATION? really? not the chance of that scroll to appear? that's really bad... upgrades are too expensive, items you use once as well. The game menu is confusing, a damn maze to understand. Easy intuitive access to everything is crucial. When I try to spin the cat but don't have money, the "ok" screen freezes and stuff happens on the background (like a new run starts), then it unfreezes and goes back to normal. Happened more than once. Has potential, but needs a lot of improvement. I hope the developers are reading these comments people are sharing.
tip (for grinding): start running, (keeping left button pressed) then right-click: your char will keep running. The game is fun, the main problem is when the devs try to lenghten a simple game, it gets boring. Achievements are way too demanding, i.e. kill dragon on dif. 50 and reach lvl 100. The game should have a MAX for each skill (not allowing you to increase them after you reach 9 on the fourth tier) and adjust the game difficulty around it. So example: last dragon should be like, difficulty 30, then the game ends. By the time you kill this dragon, you should be able to already be max char lvl, max skills (all) and all achievements completed. This would grant a sense of "100% complete" and satisfy the players very much. No need to over-lenghten the game, since the gameplay is exactly the same. Also, for a guy to run and kill like that, he should be on a horse (this one's a joke... but would make sense :P )
Plot is poorly explained/explored, voices sometimes are too low or have bad audio quality, game could be less luck-dependant: when you start a new board, 1st move is 100% luck, when you finish every combination you already saw and have to guess new ones is also luck. Combat system could eliminate luck in critical %, make life a specific amount (the attacks take away 1 + power), when you find 2 power you could "accept" or try to find a 3rd one to make it stronger. Sometimes you don't want to heal but "guessed" a heal. Maybe you could store heals to use later giving up a move instead of auto-use. Shuffle feature could work well with a sharp memory AI, so if you make a mistake and you know the opponent will benefit from it, use the shuffle. Right now the AI seems to be less about memory and more about "disturbingly accurate guesses", so it takes some of the fun. Make it longer, add new features, systems and achievements and this game's gonna be awesome.
you should be a game designer.
