It's not bad, there's nothing horribly wrong with it... but I can't help but get the feeling that it's getting a bit old. There really isn't much to set it apart from any of the other great point-and-click games anymore.
It's not bad. There's certainly a few problems (for instance, inside the cheese man boss's maze, you shouldn't be able to kill the enemies you have to bounce on) but still pretty darn good.
The controls definitely need to be a lot more fluid. Attacks feel repetitive, not to mention not being able to move while attacking is a bit annoying. Pretty good though, 3/5.
My first thought was "What the heck? This doesn't seem like there should be a way to figure it out logically." My second thought was "Wait, I think I've got it." and my third thought was "this game is awesome." Nice.
Regardless of the artsiness (which is really just a video-game retelling of a classic story), the game has some awesome level design. Terry's a master at designing a level around a simple concept.
Not bad, but I feel like it lacks a lot of polish. The controls are kind of clumsy, the screen transitions are abrupt and oftentimes in the worst locations possible, and the directions lack a bit of guidance (waypoint markers might be better). Still, pretty darn good. 4/5.
Okay, it may be a lot like Balloon in a Wasteland, but I felt it did a much better job of capturing a feel of urgency and imminent death. For that, 5/5.
While it's true there's a lot of luck in the game, a bit of knowledge and a bit of strategy goes a long way. If you can't tell Switzerland from Sweden, you have no right to complain. Here's a few tips:
It's better to guess somewhere specific so that you have a chance of getting a multiplier than to guess in the middle of the country and be sure you'll get a few points.
If you have absolutely no idea whatsoever, quickly place it in the middle of an area that sounds like it would have that name (if it sounds middle-eastern, place it there, if it sounds african, place it there). You'll at least get a hundred or so points for doing it quickly.
Really, the only thing I found wrong with this game was the devastator powerup. I thought it was going to set right one of the few things I disliked about metroidvania games: that inevitably the last weapon became the only one you'd ever need to use. After the devastator powerup, the other two weapons should've been more powerful than the rainbow wave, since they had smaller hit areas, but instead the rainbow wave remained the most powerful of all the weapons, rendering the other two pointless. Still an awesome game, and a total 5/5.
Major props for actually adding some more challenge into hard mode, rather than just increasing the boss's health and lives. It would've been way too easy if that had been the only difference.
I just can't help but get the feeling that the dev set out to make an epic stunt game ala Stuntman for the PS2, but then got annoyed halfway through and made it a random driving and item collection game...
I like the premise... but I still don't get how your house is deemed purely demonic if nobody dies there, but if you cause a mass-suicide, the house is deemed totally safe and open for business...
Pretty fun, but collision detection needs work (especially with bridges), there should be some things that block tanks but not bullets, and wasd controls are absolutely vital. Enemy AI could also use some work, I can't tell when they're going to shoot and when they're just going to drive mindlessly by.
Seems good, the sprite looks professional, though you may want to make his crawling a bit more smooth and possibly his jumps a bit quicker. Walljumping also feels a bit awkward since you have to switch between holding directions at just the right time. Otherwise, sounds awesome. Hope to see it work out well!
Oh you demon >.< I spent ages on that last level, figuring it had to do with the lighting or something... Can't believe I didn't see that for so long -.-' That said, I love the game. The lack of mouse-lock was a little bit bothersome, but since nothing really required you to click other than the notepads, which locked your view anyways, it didn't get in the way much. The puzzles are great, and Bonte really did a great job of using 3D in this game. Absolute 5/5
Eh, I've seen good games in this style... but I just don't think this is that good of a game in this style. I smiled a bit at a few parts I found somewhat humorous, but otherwise it just wasn't that great.
