I would like to suggest that you add power-ups into the game field. It rewards the player who manages to fight gazillion of the monsters to reach it. It should also be possible to take a loan of life (add lives or warps, and another gazillion of debt). Very great game performance- and gameplay-wise.
Thanks. It seems obvious now that it's really missing rewards like power-ups among other things. I plan to rewrite things for a sequel (Outerdebt 2: Into Surplus :p), with mouse-aiming, WASD movement, various weapons upgrades, and some enemies that home in mixed up with the aimless fodder. Also a simplified scoring system with a multiplier that increases at various stages. And get rid of the HUD :) Performance-wise, the flixel AS3 library helped a great deal.
Game seems a bit slow, and you need balancing on the upgrades. The enemies have too little variety and randomness. It's not sheer number or firepower that kills players. It's variation of attacks that force players to focus, or die trying.
The game should really stop asking where my hometown is. It ticks me off when I think I got it right, but still miss it like ... a few centimeters. At least give a zoom-in feature!
Good game. But I disapprove taking contents from other games, even if you've credited them. As a VCop veteran I must say a nice tribute however, reminds me of the good old times.
